SYSK, Stuff You Should Know Diabetes Episode

(Charndra Pile) #1

OMG. I enjoy the easy chatter of this show. This podcast is a light overview of whatever topic, based on conventional information, written by a staffer and discussed by Chuck and Carl.
I’m listening to the Diabetes episode right now, and feel compelled to post here.
There are SO MANY misconceptions I am aaargh sigh, no!
They guys respond well to feedback, perhaps you could send an email to them with the science based and really correct facts of diabetes, which is not things such as

  • t2d diabetes can possibly be passed down from a gdm mother to her child.
  • I have not heard ketones mentioned once.
  • they are terrified they are next and that only prediabetes can be reversed.
  • it’s totally your own fault.
  • it’s unknown why some populations are predisposed to t2d.
  • I actually have yet to get to the end, LOL.
Personally I’m not in a place to respond, but I know so many people are eloquent, kind and generous in their explanations of the science and reality of Keto and low carb diets to both prevent and reverse t2d, and the rest!
I’m certain if a bunch of knowledgeable people send in their experiences, and some professionals too, they would cover it in their mail segment.
Perhaps a suggestion about an episode in response about ketogenic diets, ketone science, might open their doors to a new perspective.

I used to be a regular listener. However, the more episodes I listened to, the more I soured on their sloppy research. I have not found them open to countering evidence, either.

I’m not surprised they botched it.

Yeah, I go in stages of listening, perhaps because it is easy to fall asleep to, LOL. For random topics where I don’t really care about depth of research, it’s fine, but these ‘serious’ topics (to me!) when handled sloppily, I log out for some time usually. All the ad breaks annoy me too. And the prattle at the beginning. I just want to hear stories about how the Narwhal is the unicorn of the ocean, get on with it!

Hidden Brain, on the other hand, is an awesome podcast.

Yep. I am right there with you.
