Sweet tooth

(Brian) #21

Kate, have you mastered the “molten lava” part of it?

I think I’ve made what was supposed to be lava cake about 3 times now and I never do quite get it right. Usually, I overbake them.

Maybe I need to do about six of them and pull them out of the oven at about 90 second intervals just to see which one of them is about right and go with that. (??)

They’ve all been good, but never what looks like it’s done on the outside with anything really molten on the inside.

To get from produce to the meat market in my grocery store, you have to go through the bakery. Pre-keto, eating 1100 calories or less a day because I couldn’t lose weight on less, I would often end up counting 500 calories for a piece of chocolate fudge cake - I just couldn’t pass it up. Guess what - I ended up starving later. And I :two_hearts: LURVE :two_hearts: the smell of yeast bread. But if I want some, I now make a keto bread with yeast in it. My trash carb cravings are no longer in control. I walk through the bakery with a sympathetic twang for the carbivores stopping in to make themselves sick. I’m headed for a ribeye or some bacon or whipping cream instead - my new healthy friends!

Can I not use cinnamon and vanilla extract?

#24

But why not fighting the fire with the fire?

As in, keep eating those.
Eat till you finally got sick of it, instead of using willpower to fight it.

Stir 100% cocoa powder into coconut oil, ghee, or a combination of the two. Add a pinch of salt. You can eat it at room temperature with a spoon or freeze it to make it a harder fat bomb. Try like 2 tablespoons of the fat and 1-2 teaspoons of the cocoa powder (I always eyeball it so it I am not sure on measurements).

It is nice because it satisfies the ‘sweet’, but there are not any sweeteners. Super simple, very tasty.

I’m hoping to be that strong! Til then I’m avoiding it like a plague lol! A nice ribeye does sound good though

(Ashley) #27

That sort of sounds silly and unproductive!

(Ashley) #28

Yum I will try this!!

#29

But why silly and unproductive?

If one can get sick of eating something when he overeats that certain food, then why cannot one get sick of eating sweet when he overeats sweet?

(Candy Lind) #30

Because sugar (specifically fructose) causes an addictive response in the brain. It’s not a matter of getting sick of it or using willpower. Not enough is known about how artificial sweeteners affect that chemical addiction - is it “methadone” for sugar addicts? I, for one, don’t want to take that chance. I got the monkey off my back, and I don’t ever want it back. I eat sweets sparingly and am on the lookout, whenever I do, for insidious cravings.

(Ashley) #31

I think it’s silly because for some people even “getting sick” wouldn’t stop them once feeling better they fall into a loop again. That’s kinda like saying, “if heroin makes you sick just keep using it until you get sick enough to stop” which clearly doesn’t happen. Its an addiction for some people, you don’t just feed the addiction to get off the addiction. You stop the sugar to quit the sugar! Doesn’t make sense to then have more sugar!

#32

But to stop the sugar, you need willpower(especially when around the sugar)… <_<

So I was thinking if there is any other way to walk around, like making buns very disgusting after EATING HELLALOTS.

At least I am very hoping that ketosis can be achieved without needing to restrict carb…(Bakery around making good-smelling buns, and all those buns smell good and are CONVENIENT food to eat.)

(Ashley) #33

Unless your willing to cut carbs you can forget about ketosis. Now some people can implement higher carbs that others and can incorporate some things in and still stay in ketosis. But ymmv!

#34

And I am jealous of those people, seriously.

it is not that I am not willing to cut carbs: As long as there are lots of replacements around(and they are convenient enough to grab), I am okay.

Maybe getting ketosis requires one to surf against the tide.

praying for keto to be a trend, then lots of people will suddenly go for keto to hope to earn big, then it will be MUCH EASIER to go keto. Just like the current “low fat trend” makes everything less fat…

#35

Sure. For cream cheese pancakes, everything beyond the eggs and cream cheese is just flavoring.

(Ashley) #36

That is true, and their still is quick grab and go options available, or even if you can’t grab and go there is the option to one or two days a week doing a meal prep and then it’s convient to grab and go! I’ll be looking at doing meal prep soon so I can can grab and go! Plus I’m slowly converting my Dad to Keto since I cook for him. Hes a healthy weight but he has some health problems, he has to have lower salt among other things so while he isn’t full Keto he is about 3/4 Keto!

(Ashley) #37

Also even though I don’t personally do it often their are ways to order at McDonald’s, or Wendy’s or places like that and make it low carb and higher fats. I have used it in a pinch but I prefer more Whole Foods! Also purchased a cheap cooler backpack on amazon so I can take grab and go snacks for work and not have to worry if I feel I need to eat I can grab some cheese, or some bacon or something of that nature quick and easy to give me a boost.
