I traveled with my boys and wife to my daughters college graduation. Meal and activity planning were challenging at the graduation weekend due to festivities planned around my daughters graduation. There were several times I elected NOT to eat at all because there was literally no viable option. Our hotel had a mini kitchenette though so the day after I got in I stocked up a tiny bit with cheese, salami, Brazil nuts, avocados and canned anchovies. So after a festivity if I was hungry I was covered. My mom, brother and sisters family live ~1hr away so the plan was to move my daughter a couple of days later. My family has several strong willed personalities. So my mom was warned about my woe and was accommodating by not recommending a pasta centric restaurant when we went out to eat. Still there were times when it was necessary to “straight arm” comments like “oh I got this for you to eat”. I am responsible for what goes in my mouth… I got back home at 2am. My reward for discipline and will power is it looks like I didn’t gain any weight and may have even lost a pound. I’ll have to wait a day or two till travel funk goes away. But son graduates HS thus sat…

Nice job man. I always have issues with diets when going to family events. Looking to start keto now but have to postpone due to a week long trip to the in laws

Dealing with family can be tricky because there’s a social stigma of refusing food. If you refuse their food they infer that what they offered wasn’t good enough for you and it can affect their self esteem. I was very clear up front want my diet was and to not worry about me. I would adjust. It happened to me a couple of times. But by and large it was totally manageable.
