Super-exercising mice

I’ll state up-front that I’m not a fan of the trend of trying to find a drug to solve every human problem.

That being said, and with the caveat that mice are not people, I did find parts of this article interesting from the standpoint that apparently one of the mechanisms of the gene activated by the drug being studied was that it changed what the animals used for fuel, namely decreasing the amount of carbohydrate used, and increasing the amount of fat used for fuel.

Even if it never works out as a drug therapy for people, hopefully the study will add to the body of knowledge with respect to how our bodies use various dietary substrates for fuel. More understanding would be good.
