Hi everyone,
I know that sunflower seeds usually seem to have quite a few carbs in them, so it makes them a non-ideal keto food and definitely inferior to macadamia nuts or pecans. But I just stumbled across this product in on of the “foreign country products” aisles in one of our local supermarkets:
These are roasted and salted sunflower seeds in the shell imported from Russia. Now, the nutritional info is where it gets interesting (per 100g):
kcals: 362
fat: 33.5 (saturated: 2)
net carbs: 2,16
sugars: 0
fiber: 5
protein: 13
salt: 1,1 (sodium: around 400mg)
Seems like the ideal keto food! I just inhaled 200grams; super delicious! My blood sugar remains it a constant 90 before and after eating them (t30: 91, t60: 87, t90: 84, t120: 86).
I am just curious whether this nutritional info actually can be true… seems to be too good to be true, especially compared to other sunflower seeds (even when compared to shelled seeds). Could it be a special kind of sunflower seed?
I am really curious to find out and I wonder whether you guys have some idea as to the reasons for those great nutritional stats.
