Suggestions for early morning extreme fatigue/weakness

#1

I’ve been doing Keto for almost 4 weeks. Having wonderful progress. And this would not be a concern unless I were going on a trip on Wednesday. Getting up at 5 AM, schlepping to the bus, then the airport, etc.

I’ve been taking eletrolytes, the past 2 mornings the exogenous ketones in water first thing. But I still have to wait at least an hour for it to take effect. Should I just get up earlier and get that done? Or is there something I could do the night before (I quit eating at 8 PM). Or something I could do that would get quicker results.

It’s kinda scary even though I know what’s going on.

Thanks so much!

Don’t suppose there’s anyway you could get some ZipFizz in the next day or two.
That stuff sure works for me. Has many different B vitamins, electrolytes, and caffeine. Maybe a GNC or Vitamin store nearby? If a Prime member on Amazon you might could get it by Tues. afternoon. IMHO, the orange cream is best flavor.
Otherwise, for future, buy some New Vitality Ultra Green Drink. I used to feel very, very sluggish in the mornings; after taking this green drink, I’d wake up fresh, and rarin’ to go.
Good luck.

Thank you. It will be here Tuesday. I do have the PowerPak but the ZipFizz has more of some of the key ingredients. I have the Green Surge so will use that too. And do some comparison later on. If you’re familiar with it and the one you are using is better, let me know.

What are you eating? Are you under fueling yourself? Many people do exactly that especially at first.

I have to be honest, I simply can’t get going without caffeine. This isn’t new, I just used to have a couple of cups of coffee first thing. Now that I IF and don’t have any calories at all til noon, I will take a caffeine pill if I need to be alert first thing (also seems to help me with constipation.)

I really have no idea what this does to autophagy or my fasting window, but I figure it’s the best compromise I can make.

@CA77ANDRA Wow, that Green Surge looks like great stuff too! I like that green shiny can. Great marketing tool. i’m a sucker for good marketing tools.
Thought of one more thing. It’s possible, well, probable, if you haven’t been taking some kinds of psyllium husks, that you have some fecal matter resting in your colon…just sitting there. Could be 2 lbs and up. That will definitely zap anyone of energy. Rush down to WalMart or somewhere, and get some Equate 100% psyllium husk Daily Fiber. Comes in an orange and white can. It’s the least expensive. Start taking that, up to 3 times a day. It’ll likely “rush things on through”. Good tasting stuff too. Warning: you’re liable to drop at least 2 lbs in 1 day. Four weeks on Keto without something like this, will get you more plugged up, since we don’t get much fiber. If you really want to go gung ho, while at Walmart, see if you can get some pure Magnesium Oxide, about 500mg dose. That’ll push things through also.
All these things I’m suggesting, I do on a regular basis. No pun intended. heh.
@kib I gotta have my caffeine too. They say Italian coffee is the living end, so I just bought some.

Please show me the science about your fiber claims.

More research shows fiber is not necessary.

Well this is clearly related to keto since I’ve never felt like this before. Coffee…I love it but never became dependent on it. Although your suggestion just might get me through this. I have been doing the butter coffee but this feeling starts as soon as I get out of bed. And it does pass in an hour or so but with this trip coming up, it’s a bit concerning since I won’t have time to let it pass.

Interesting observation. I’m not as regular as before but don’t feel constipated. I’ll have to give this some thought. It sure makes sense. I’m glad the Green Surge is a good one. There’s so many and this one was reasonably priced. It is a pretty container :grinning:

All these are not my original ideas. I’ve read tons of books on it all and listened to people like the following. Might take a look at this vid by 64 year old man. He’s been doing all this for 25 years, especially the colon cleansing stuff. He and I are the same age and I’m starting to look and feel like him. Just spend 11 and 1/2 minutes watching this and it may add 11 1/2 years to your life. You’re in for a treat! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAY8c0H7NYg
And if you dare, watch the first 6.5 minutes of his other vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6JFYC1q7WA

I second the zipfizz idea. This stuff got me through the larthargic period of adaptation and I use it pre runs to give me a boost of energy.

This looked a lot like vegan propaganda. I’m looking for some real science. Are you able to provide any links to real scientific studies? I’ve read from several well respected members of the nutritional community that needing fiber is a myth.

Everybody is different, but I feel much better without fiber and my movements are much more consistent. The more recent information I’ve seen is that old school thoughts about fiber are just like old school thoughts about grains. Not necessary and not necessarily healthy. More likely the opposite.

I find that when I take beef liver capsules (haven’t yet gotten round to actually cooking organs), my morning energy is great the next day. I used to just take it weekly, but for daily assistance am now taking it… daily!!! Makes sense, considering that fat + organ meats do great things for the brainz… :sparkles:

#14

Oh! Thanks for the reminder. I have beef liver powder that I haven’t taken in awhile. Will get that out again! I would take it in orange juice so I’ll have to just take it in water. Hmmm, wonder what it would taste like in cream.

(karen) #15

beef liver in orange juice … ummm … errr … right up there with fondant-wrapped haggis … Lol.

#16

Actually I quite enjoy it. One ounce of OJ and a tsp of liver powder. I’ve been taking it on and off since the 60’s. I think it was Adelle Davis that turned me onto it!! I suppose it’s an acquired taste

(Jane) #17

Adele Davis is my HERO!!!

That being said… just go to China or Brazil
for a week and eat their fruit or soups for a week and you will be regular for months afterwards !!!

#18

Go for it - take it any way you can - during your eating window. Yep, with cream it would be rather French (maybe with a sauteed shallot and a teaspoon or two of red wine in the saute lol) also could also be super tasty mixed with cream cheese…

Hope it helps. Getting the organ meat into the body is really critical, the more I read about it. :sparkles:

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions, comments and experiences. I have gathered some good info. The zippfizz will be here tomorrow.

Your comment IFod14 made me think…so I had my last meal at almost 8:30 PM last night and this morning was much better.

Again, thank you all!!

You can help yourself out quite a bit with 1fl oz of apple cider vinegar and pinch of sea salt with a shot of lemonade “Mio” style flavoring. A very nice rehydration that gets in you fast. To me, it sounds like you’re plowing through your glycogen, and waking up rather dehydrated, which is pretty common…
