Success Stories of Moderate Weight Loss?

Hi all! I’d love to hear some success stories from people who only had 15-20lbs to lose from the get go. I’ve seen loads of success from people who had 50+ lbs to lose (which is INCREDIBLE btw), but I’m looking for stories of people who were working out, eating “right,” but couldn’t kick those last 15 or 20 lbs until they started ketogenic dieting.

I’m in that boat (work out a lot, have tried IIFYM and a bunch of other stuff, but my weight hasn’t budged, even with HiiT workouts and endurance cycling). I haven’t had much success yet on keto (but it’s only been a few weeks), so I’d love to hear others’ success stories so I have something to look forward to and believe in, even if I haven’t seen any personal results just yet.

I had 30 pounds to lose. I’ve lost 20 since January. I have 10 more to go.

@NewImprovedMe Thanks and AWESOME! Tell me more - are you doing IF at all, or just keto eating? Are you sticking to strict macros? If so, what calculator did you use?

I think I probably fall into your category. Good luck, it’s totally doable because if you’ve never been obese your metabolism is so much easier to get back in check than if it’s been deranged for decades.

@Scottaltelfer Thanks so much! I’ve restricted calories for basically my whole life and done lots of extreme diets, so I’m pretty that metabolic derangement is the reason my body is so unresponsive. Hoping that this fixes it!

I try to keep my carbs 20g or less. Protein 40g (1g per kg of lean body) or less and fat until satiated. I’ve tried different types of fasting (not at the same time). I’ve done intermittent fasting 8/18…I’ve done alternate day fasting and a few extended fasts. I’ve just completed a 72 hour fast. Right now I’m trying out a feasting/fasting plan…the last 10 pounds are being kind of stubborn.
Fasting seems to help me lose weight the best. And keto helps me keep it off. Things that cause me to stall are nuts, keto sweets, dairy and too much protein. I tend to overindulge.
To summarize, I try to change things up to keep the weigh loss going.

Thanks SO Much for this!!!

I had 20ish lbs to lose since starting keto 5 weeks ago. Weight was only part of it though. I have lost 13 lbs so far just through following the basic principles. I have not lost anything for 10 days now though. My plan is to steer a steady course and let time do its job. I don’t exercise enormously and to be honest am a little reluctant to do so in case it triggers insatiable hunger arose and throws me off my beat.

I’ve been keto since September, low carb since end of June 2016 421lbs… starting with a goal of losing about 220lbs… so far I’m between 65 and 70lbs down that’s moderate for my goal and the timeline I figure it will take me to hit goal…

I successfully lost 25 lbs since starting keto. I have always been a gym rat for the past 25 years but always had a layer of fat hiding my hard work. Ate what I thought was a healthy diet but it was always a struggle to lose any of the layer of fat. I started a calorie restricted, portion controlled diet in Feb 2016 and managed to lose about 15 lbs in 5 months. Then I switched to keto in Aug of 2016 and the pounds easily and effortlessly came off, just fat pounds and now you can see all the muscle Ive been building over the past 25 years. Here are some before and current pictures. <img The 2nd was taken 3/30/27

Sorry, don’t know what happened to the first picture. Here is the before:

@Sheri_Knauer awesome!! Did you/do you follow strict macros? How much protein do you eat? Do you cap fat or just eat to satiety? Do you ever eat carbs before a big workout? I’d love to hear more!!

For the first few months I did track everything I ate. I kept protein between 50-70 grams, staying more toward the lower end for the first few months and then more toward the upper end as I became fat adapted and started lifting heavier. I try to keep fats no more than double the protein I eat but sometimes I go over but that does not seem to affect me in terms of weight loss. I do not eat any carbs before a big workout. 99% of the time I work out in a fasted state. When I get up in the morning, I have a BPC, then Im usually at the gym by 8:30-9 am then my first meal is around 1-2 pm.
