I was so excited 2 days ago. Got on the scale and was down 31lbs . Today get home after work and fasting 14hrs and I’m up almost 4lbs. Grrrr

That’s how it works, especially for us women. Are you close to your monthly cycle by any chance? Hormones are up and down throughout the month for us and that always has an effect.
The scale really isn’t a good guide though, if you put too much focus on the number it gives you then it’ll just make you feel bad and potentially trigger cravings and other emotional issues. Throw it away and get a basic tape measure.
Nope, had that last week but honestly my insides feel like I should be having that time. I do measure my inches once a week. And I should put the scale away. It’s like my addiction, so easy to jump on it
Just put it away out of sight. Your hormones will likely be up and down more than usual if your body is still adapting to keto. Four pounds will be just water weight and nothing to stress about - no way anyone would be able to put on that amount of fat in just two days.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe your body went into starvation mode (or something like that) and wanted to protect you. I’ve heard of that happening.
Time of day matters too. I always weigh in the morning, before I ingest anything and after I go to the bathroom lol.
I dont know what happened. I work midnights so I try and fast while work and weigh in when I get home. Off day I’m hoping.
Put something on your scale that you know weighs the same as the half way mark that your scale will read up to. That’s where the scales are set to be accurate. Worth a check anyway. Know any weight lifters with steel weights that you can take your scale to? Also, it is very important to have your scale on a very solid flat floor.
Don’t sweat it. Daily numbers fluctuate, it’s the trend and the weight set point that matter.
I am taking this to heart right now. I went from 152 to 180 during a 9 day period (that included being hospitalized and subsequent days of celebratory feasting with visiting family). It’s day 11, after two days of fasting, I’m down to 163. I ate today, I don’t know what the scale will show tomorrow, but it doesn’t really matter. I’ll be back to normal soon enough. Whether it takes 3 days or 3 weeks, isn’t worth fretting over.
I guess this is a long winded way of saying:
- weight can change dramatically in a very short period of time
- it’s not fat, just fluid
- don’t sweat the small stuff
