Uuugghhh! Why am I such a stress eater?
Having a slammed day at work and it just makes me want to eat…Staying strong so far, but it’s annoying!

Have a big glass of water and/or take a walk to the break room and have a cup of hot tea. Sit for 5 mins an decompress. Get back to it. KCKO
Lucky for me, I’m not allowed food at my desk.
Only thing allowed is a water bottle. Not even allowed gum.
Keeps me from a lot of stress eating.
Have keto “snacks” around so that stress eating doesn’t devolve into carbage!
My little baggies of macadamias are good to keep at the office, drinking water or even with a splash of some favor concentrate might help. Stress creates its own little hormonal hell - cortisol spikes insulin which undoes good work from keto.
The root cause is the stress. Anything to do about that? Someone needs to disappear into a landfill?
If it’s anything like I have to deal with, a rubber hose or a shock collar would work nicely.
Oh my lord, I feel you.
I tried Keto last year in November, and my job was REALLY stressful. I did so well until Day 18 where I totally bombed and no joke, ate 8 candy bars from the machine. That cheat followed through to March.
I’m now in a new job and I am so much more happier.
I do not stress or even THINK about food now and even my dermatitis on my hands has cleared up.
God I love keto. Change jobs if you can lol.
I actually love my job.
But there is still stress involved.
When much of your job involves fixing other people’s errors or sloppiness, it can get frustrating. And I joke about the rubber hose thing a lot.
Even so, I wouldn’t consider leaving for anything.
Unless I won some mega lottery jackpot that is.
I’m a stress eater/emotional eater/self sabotagin g eater.
I’m 15 lbs from 300 …my goal is 185 to 190…I literally fight my brain …to get up n eat.I know it’s triggers but also realized TV commercials at night are so often over during day… I can be full but think oh food…drives me nuts.
I need to get my weight off.enjoy rest of my life.I’ve set mini goals …changed them lol still struggle with it
ummmm you found keto, right? is there a bigger jackpot out there - I dont think so.
So - quit already - and become a keto evangelist!
The cortisol thing is a great point that I don’t think is brought up enough. I researched this after I noticed lower ketone levels on days I did hard workouts. I wonder if some people who are struggling with keto and adapting could attribute some of the struggle to chronic stress. It’s a vicious cycle much like the vicious cycle of insulin and leptin resistance. You are stressed at work, then don’t sleep well, then go to the gym, then argue with your partner, deal with kids, etc. Chronic stress could have its own forum.
Couldn’t agree more, though in the case of the workout, though it is stressful in some sense, isn’t the lower ketone level mostly due to being used up in the workout?
Most of what I read attributes it to the natural cortisol spike you will get during a hard workout, and I notice it affecting my levels for a couple hrs then it goes back up. With my background of endurance sports I’ve experienced adrenal fatigue and bad chronic stress issues from over exercising and not recovering properly (back on a typical carb diet) so most of my research was in that vein and how it relates and effects a keto diet. Sort of unrelated but measuring ketones has been a good source to see how im recovering from workouts as well. If my body is wrecked my ketones are always lower, and I imagine it’s the cortisol causing insulin spikes. Then I take days off and everything gets back to normal.
Sorry everyone…Thanks for your replies…I was so busy and stressed I didn’t even have time to read them until now…
Part of the problem is that I work from home so have access to all the food in the house. Other family members snacks included!
