Strategic Carb Success

Today I made a major breakthrough on the nutrition side. For the first time, I was able to get my heart rate back up to where it was before strict keto (14 months) and even shaved 20 seconds off my time from the half marathon I raced five months before keto.

During race = nothing, not even water
Morning before race = cup of tea with cream and a Vespa (5g carbs)
Supper night before race = 6 eggs scrambled with coconut oil
Breakfast day before race = one- third of daily calories from carbs ******* the secret
Previous days = 5 to 6% calories from carbs
2018 = no veggies or fruit except some berries in April

Today, and for the future, I am back to 5-6%, which is about 40some grams of net carbs daily with 1.5 to 2 hours of daily strenuous training.

I am absolutely stoked by this because I thought it would take another year to get back to where I was before keto with respect to absolute max speed.

This is encouraging to someone like me who has been trying to run while adapting. Not fun!
