Strange Keto Period?

period

I’m not sure where to put this, but I saw lots of ladies asking questions and other things about their menstruation and Keto. Some have none, some have a lot. But many of these ladies also have BC, of which I do not.
I started looking into these things because my period is being weird, and I have not found an answer similar to what I have yet, so I’m starting to think this isn’t normal?
I’ve been on Keto since the first of this year. I felt like I’ve been doing good, been through mild Keto flu symptoms, having bursts of energy, taking magnesium daily, I’m mostly following the advice of my mom who has been on Keto for a year and a half. She’s retired, and hasn’t had her period since I graduated high school,(I’m 26) so… It’s not like I can ask her if this is normal.
So… I have a… Thick period? I saw some spotting as per usual when my period is coming, and got myself a maxi pad. After two days there is nothing really on my pad. But every time I do a wipe check, there it is, but today… Same thing with a twist, my little wipe check was… Goopy. Like… This mass of gelled dark black blood for a lack of a better description. Now these blobs are pretty normal for me regularly, they are much, much smaller and usually during the heaviest of my flow, but they usually end up in the toilet (or they absorb into my pad I guess?) and I assumed these things were normal, but this time was different. I was wondering if anyone else is going through this? This weird menstrual twilight zone? It was comforting to read that Keto does strange things to ladies, but as I still haven’t found something similar to my current situation, I’m hoping for some answers.
Please and Thank you.

I started keto about 5 days ago and same is happening to me. I am on birth control and never really had a period. If I did it was hardly noticed.
Now I’m bleeding heavy and its thick like yours. I’m new so also curious whats going on.

Keto changed everything about my period. From timing, duration, consistency, color, texture, and pms symptoms. It will all even out with time. KCKO

Whew. I’m glad I’m not alone. I didn’t see anyone else bringing this up, so I was a little worried.
Knowing I’m not alone with this weird new menstruation brings me relief.

Looks like the uterus lining is shedding a lot slower? In other words menstural cycle is slowing down (a healthy type of amenorrhea) because food is scarce from a primal perspective and then you have the gals that get the post-menopausal periods because of improved health and improved physiochemistry etc…

Thanks for the info! That’s actually pretty interesting!
