Straight fasting to start intermittent fasting?

So I want to start intermittent fasting, but after some research it seems that it’ll take a while before my body starts entering ketosis. So I was wondering if I water fast for the next 4 days to force my body into ketosis and then come out of the water fast by starting a 16:8 intermittent fast would I stay in a state of ketosis a bit everyday at that point?

Ketosis is the body using fat for energy rather than sugar. Whether to use fat or sugar is mediated by insulin. Eating carbs spikes your insulin. High insulin stops you burning fat. That’s why it’s best to avoid carbs to stay in keto.
If you’re metabolically flexible, your plan sounds good. If you’re adicted to carbs, it might take longer to run well on ketosis.

Keep net carbs below 20g and you will get into ketosis fairly quickly. Keep your protein intake adequate 1-1.5g per lb of lean body weight, and the rest fat to satiety. I’d recommend keeping your calories up at or above maintenance until your hunger normalizes and it decides that you don’t need as much food. This is when you naturally back off on the fat and let your body eat the fat that’s on your body. Forcing all of this to happen by water fasting right off the bat will more than likely have negative consequences and make the fat adaptation phase more difficult to reach. This was my experience anyway. Ymmv. This is a marathon. It is not easy or fast for many people, but when done properly yields great health benefits.
