Still learning

(Debbie) #1

I’ve been reading some of the posts on here and learning lots of stuff, so thank you for that. I do have a couple questions. I read a couple posts that kept referring to IF. Is this a abbreviation for something?
Also I hear a lot about fasting and a fasting window and such. I’m not quite understanding what this is all about. Do I not eat at all on certain days? Can someone please explain this in more detail.

Intermittent Fasting

You do whatever works for you and your lifestyle, there’s no set rules.

This is a great place to start:

No one answered your question about “IF” - that’s intermittent fasting. As you’ll read in the fasting forum, there are lots of ways to do it. Dr. Jason Fung is one name you’ll see a lot- he teaches fasting along with low-carb eating for metabolic repair and weight loss.

If you have quite a bit to lose and you’re just getting started, I would make sure you’ve got your macros in line and get fat adapted before you try fasting, just to avoid confusion.

Just for example: I started doing a 16-8 IF - eating only in an 8-hour window, then refraining for 16 (much of which I’m sleeping) to try to speed up my weight loss. It’s helped.

Thank you, I do some reading on this.

If you like youtube I like DR. Berg he explains it in a simple way (for a simple person like me)

“May the Force (fat adaption) be with you”

IF/EF Keto WOE is Self-Discovery

Good luck and much success in your journey in IF/EF Keto WOE

Thank you, I will watch it.

A few acronyms
IF - intermittent fasting
EF - extended fasting
ACV - apple cider vinegar
YMMV - your mileage may vary
KCKO - keep calm and keto on
I had to keep looking these things up! There are others I’m sure.

Actually @CandyLindTX I did, in the first reply to this topic.

Well, duh. Sorry about that!
