Stevia is it good or not?

I read a lot that warns against artificial sweeteners but then suggests Stevia as a good alternative, However now I read in 2 places that stevia is the same as other artificial sweeteners

So what’s the deal?

I don’t use it much but do want to do some keto treats as a rare treat but want to make sure I am using a good sweetener that won’t interfere otherwise the treats are not that important to me

Sweet serves no useful purpose. The sooner you lose it the better. In my humble opinion.

I agree with this. I find it stalls or makes me even gain some weight on the times I have used any (for a night out, and having a Diet Coke by example). I will still do that on the rare occasion I go out, but keep it for those nights only.

I don’t think that stevia tastes all that good anyway. As all ready posted the further you can get away from sweet the better.

Yea not that big of a deal, I don’t really use it but was looking at some keto treats online thought I might have once in a blue

However I wont be too upset without, Seems like its just not worth it and its just not too important to me, I can cry in some crab legs and butter if I do

To help stick with my diet my comfort food is ice coffee with whipping cream and stevia. It’s my only use for artificial sweetner. I’ve read no evidence of harm. Some would argue it’s bad to use seasoning on food. Well, I use them, lots of them. (My olive oil and vinegar salad dressing blows Paul Newman’s product out of the water for a fraction of the cost.)

If you want natural stevia, get the leaves. They are just as bad tasting to me as any other form I tried but I see no problem with it regarding health…
If you use it very rarely, it’s even less concern.

I typically use sweeteners every day (at least it was like that before my carnivore trials, my future is unsure but I won’t go back to my original keto), I consider erythritol and xylitol okay, the latter is really tasty too (and carbier but we shouldn’t use lots of sweetener anyway. at least it’s my attitude. less is better to me but it doesn’t mean I will give it up. I don’t give up alcohol either and that’s a toxin. but my body handles it and it’s worth it, hands down, despite I don’t need it and I am not addicted to it. I use it rarely and in super tiny amounts. it’s some mental things, not a physical need).

We all have the prerogative to decide about our style, I think.

I dont like the taste of stevia although I had always heard it is the most natural and healthy artificial sweetener of them all. I prefer erythrit but its usually too mild, so then I add just a little bit of stevia to it and its ok. Although sweet oftentimes does end up stalling me ( I guess I must be very insulin sensitive to sweet tasting stuff- artificial or not) I need something sweet from time to time. I just keep it keto. We have 4 kinds of taste buds on our tongues : sweet salty sour and bitter. So I think sweet is there for a reason too. No?

from my experience, stevia is OK

I only use it with lemon juice about 3 times a week

I did not observe any thing negative

I use Stevia in daily ice coffee. It does what it needs to do for me. I buy 8 oz bottles of Better Stevia Original on Amazon.

Apparently there is something called cephalic phase where it triggers insulin to be released in small amounts. I have stopped all artificial sweeteners and I haven’t missed them.

If you are going to use a sweetener, Stevia is one of the better choices you can make.

I have not found that it’s been a problem for me. I do not like to use a lot of it because it does have a nasty aftertaste if you overdo it. But I like a little in my coffee in the mornings. The occasional treat usually has stevia and erythritol in it but that’s not an every day thing anymore.

If it’s a problem, leave it off. If it’s not a problem for you to enjoy it, go ahead. We’re all made a little different. Some can handle things that others just cannot.
