Hi all! Newly enrolled to forum, I’ve done Keto and IF before but never had this type of resource. Honestly Keto worked well for me but stress and life really derailed my previous progress, and until recently I felt too overwhelmed and honestly embarrassed /in denial about my need to return to better choices for better health and weight loss. Also, I have a pretty big birthday approaching as well as a 4 year old whom I would like to see grow up and be a positive role model. I have mild to moderate daily aches and pains, but honestly despite obesity my labs are good and my PCP regards me as well. My sense is I am ‘sub-clinicaly’ unwell. My career is in healthcare (APRN), which adds to my general embarrassment regarding my own weight and health. Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to a healthier and happier new year.
Starting over 'too big to fail' again
Totally with you! I too have struggled and work in health care. Discovered keto last August and haven’t looked back. It does help to have resources - and be able to read/hear what others have to say - just reinforces that this (for me - metabolically disturbed) is the absolutely right way to go. Feel great and more importantly I don’t feel deprived. I think I finally know what “normal feels like”. Welcome back to the track. You might find it a little more crowded than before
Meegan, welcome!!
Not in health care but much like the English major who is not allowed to make a grammatical error, you are held higher standard. Not fair, I know. Stay actively in touch. We are all on the same journey.

I’m surprised that people would hold you to a higher standard for body fat. The majority of nurses are overweight or obese where i live. And at least 50% in nursing school are the same. My assumption was that nurses were driven to take care of others, but disregard their own well-being. Not to mention the hectic work schedules. Anyways, totally understand why you would want to be a role model and facilitate change. Welcome and good luck
Well, we are our own harshest critics. I forgot to point out that the mainstream medical industry does not for the most part know anything about proper diet and nutrition. So, never a surprise when i see an overweight doctor or nurse. After all, they’re given the same terrible government guidelines that are given to the rest of us. Most doctors information comes from the food pyramid and conferences from big pharma reps for new drugs. Makes me happy to see nurses and doctors jumping on board with paleo and keto lifestyles. Proof of concept on themselves, followed by an opportunity to provide life saving advice to others
