Starting out advice

(steven) #1

Hi Guys

new to Keto and plan to go all in tomorrow.
I have a few questions and would appreciate some answers and advice

My macro requirements are as follows - Cal 2007, Fat 161g, protein 119g and carbs 20g.

Fistly, i’m struggling to find quick and easy meals to prep. I usually prep for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I would like to eat if possible lunch and dinner, I can get away with not having breakfast.

Does anybody have any go to meals for when at work, easy to prep and good to store for next day etc?

Also, I would like to get my spouse involved in Keto, but she is pregnant and gives birth next month.
She has gestational diabetes, so naturally has to limit carbs and sugar etc.

Is Keto safe for pregnant women and also women who are breast feeding?

Thanks Guys, I look forward to your replies.

Dr. Fung and his associate say it is fine to eat keto while pregnant and nursing, just DO NOT do any fasting until the baby is on solid foods @12 months old.

As for the lunches here are some good threads with ideas:

Ditto for the fasting until the baby is a year old.

If you have access to a microwave you can take raw eggs stirred up with shredded cheese and cooked meat to make a cheaters omelet at the office. I also bake hamburger patties in batches on the weekend and take one or two with a slice of cheese each and some mayo for good measure. My latest obsession is cooking up batches of 80% lean ground beef with spices for different flavors, So far I’ve done one that tasted like bolognaise with just 2 tbsp of tomato paste for 2 lbs of meat, one that is just straight up taco flavored, and one that tasted like kufta kabob. The last one is my favorite so far.

Gladware is fixing to become your best good friend. Hope this helps.

I do this with my burgers too and especially love curry.
