My SO is German and so giving up bread is quite possibly the furthest thing from his mind, ever xD He does bake sometimes himself too.
Food smells are funny things. I personally think that both bacon and coffee smell far better than they taste, though I like both. A steak always matches its smell though, as with freshly baked bread.
I just watched that film, ‘Solyent Green,’ this evening.
It was made in 1972 or 3, before I was born, but is actually set in 2022.
Some of the inferred predictions in the film and today’s reality are quite uncanny.
The fake food bit (not the canibal bit!).
The world in complete disorder bit, with food and water shortages.
The sea being completely polluted bit.
The unwashed masses being told what they can eat, which is basically processed vegan crap…whilst the few have access to real whole meat and veg.
I’m not saying that this world is as dystopian as that (yet), but you see the push today towards no meat and also lab grown ‘meat’, and you can see nuanced correlations…
