Hi everyone , I’m natasha and I am starting my 23 day fast tomorrow. I am extremely excited but scared at the same time. I’m scared because I feel like I will give up on myself . I am doing this fast mainly for weight loss but for the confidence that I can complete something I want for myself. I guess I am looking for support guys I’m afraid I can’t do this alone. I currently weight 169lbs
Starting my 23 day fast
Natasha, why 23 days? Versus 22 or 24? Just wondering if that holds some significance for you.
Thats a pretty long fast. Have you fasted before? Its always best to work your way up to longer fasts. Are you doing it for weight loss alone? Or do you have some underlying metabolic issues you want to resolve? Have you done the research on what you need to do during the fast, signs that you should end a fast, and proper way to end a fast? Sorry so many questions. Just trying to get more info.
If this is a personal challenge for some reason (and hopefully you have fasted before and know how to get your salts) and you are determined to do it - good luck!
If this is for weight loss - a much better scheme that is still challenging but, fits into most people’s life better is something like eat-only-weekends.
You will fast for 25 days in the next 5 weeks and it is not easy but, it greatly reduces your chance of failure due to an unplanned weekend (relatives visit, getaway weekend, unplanned social event etc.).
Also, you can much more easily recover from a complete failure - some Wednesday turns into an impossible-to-get-out-of event - a little wine, a big meal, breakfast due to the hangover - get right back on it and do 6 weeks instead of 5. A straight long fast is much more difficult to recover from on a break (psychologically - for me anyway).
And, per @cw2001, why why why 23?
Hi Natasha!
23 days is exactly the length I did my first fast. I had wanted to do 40, but had to cut it short due to upcoming trip.
I’m currently in the middle of a 21 day fast. Even with a head cold earlier this week, I was able to get through my second week.
If you have read up on fasting and prepared your body for it, you should be successful. It’s quite amazing once you get into it, no matter what the length of the fast is, how good you will feel and how much energy you will have while giving your digestive system a much needed break.
Be blessed.
