Started today: lots of weight to lose

(Running from stupidity) #21

Nope. Do not worry about calories in the initial phases, just concentrate on carbs, that’s the macro that counts.

I strongly recommend Cronometer for tracking, it’s the best I’ve found, but others have different ones they like.

Thank you hun i will sign up.

Ive put my trust in what you say. I am NOT going to look at cals for next 2 week. I am used to cal counting. It so hard. Well i will look but not restrict. Just eat when hungry. I am also not going to worry about IF if it happens it happens.

I was 20.12 or 292 lbs the day i started. I will weigh in next fri morning.

We are going out to tonight. Ive looked i am having salad with prawn and avarcardo. It seemed the best thing. Right now i dont TRUST myself to order a burger and NOT eat the fries. I guess i will learn. I am a bit worried the prawns will come pre mixed in mayo and a tom sauce. I WILL have to learn to ask and NIT feel like i am a pain.

I am wrapping xmas pressie for mt son rbis afternoon. Hes with grandparents today

Americans don’t know what squash is. Think of it as a concentrate that you dilute to taste with water—as if you had a kool-aide concentrate drink and diluted it.

I’d say drop the squash. It’s full of sugar or artificial sweeteners when low sugar. It won’t help and could hurt. Sparkling water is fine though!

OH YAH WE DO IT’S LIKE RAQUETBALL!

Happy Holidays, Ethan. :slightly_smiling_face:

Might be TMI but has anyone had an upset tummy when starting keto? I dont know if its what i am eating, the magnesium i started taking only since weds ( so only took 1 150 mg today not 2) or a bit of a bug?

I ate out. Just had salad leaves tiny bit of cucumber chicken bacon and some mayo ( guessing a tablespoon) i left the toms and pepper and onion. I drank coffee with single cream.

Awesome stuff.

I WILL have to learn to ask and NIT feel like i am a pain.

Yep. It’s YOUR health, you own it fully.

Yup, I had stomach upset in the beginning. Mine was usually a bit of nausea while I adjusted to the high fat, I think. I lost my appetite that first and second week but I carried on. I love TMI. Once, in my first few weeks I ate a tomato and a couple of hours later pooped a tomato. It was a process learning what was going to happen. It helped to take a probiotic. Now if I fart I am startled. My tummy is so quiet and it rarely happens anymore. For me, things in the tummy department got WAY better since cutting carbs/junk. I’m 3 months in.

First week or two keep it as simple as possible. Just stay under 20g carbs.

Then maybe add one or two new things a week.

But down the track the idea is to explore, whilst still staying under 20g carbs.

A lot of people do not explore much, they get bored then wonder what happened., This diet opens up a lot of doors which were previously closed.

I have rediscovered the world of vegetables, fish, almonds, walnuts, bacon and eggs. All food’s I previously avoided or neglected … if you jazz them up they’re great, as simple as putting butter on steamed veggies makes all the difference.

^^Thank you. Ive just bought lamb and ribs-never eaten them. No idea how to cook them. Need to look into it.

Bought some burger for tea. 2g carb each and some lamb-which says you can grill. Doing buttered mushrooms and brocolli with cheese as veg.

One of my favorite things about the international flavor (flavour!) of the forums: learning words, phrases, usages, etc. from each other. This (squash/cordial/juice) was a good one!

(Julie) #33

Yep sorry to cause such confusions. Trust me.

Its 40 mins to christmas day here in uk  so no time for full update as my son will be up early.

Ive eaten lots today just had scrambled egg and cheese as i had a headache and was cold/ i had shivers . Would this be the start of keto flu?

Stay hydrated and remember to get enough salt. It should help with the headache and general malaise.

Carb manager is really good. I moved up to premium because I can run reports for my doctor and dietitian. If all the values are entered in the system, unless it is someone’s personal one they are there. I can monitor my vitamin k also to dose my warfarin correctly.
