Started keto/menstrual cycle. Help!

#1

Hello,

I am new here and new to keto and definitely seeking help and advice. Ive only been on keto for about a week and a half. I’ve already seen results and I’m feeling better mentally and physically. I’ve also stopped drinking soda and seen a huge difference in my skin clearing and no break outs (always had hormonal acne). The only thing i don’t like about keto and that i am having trouble with is, as soon as i started keto i started bleeding/spotting for about a week and a half none stop. I had my period about 2 weeks before and I’m on birth control and when i get it, it only lasts 1-2 days so this is new to me. I have done research and read other comments from people that when burning fat, hormones are released and cause this. Im worried because people are saying that it lasted 2-5 months for them until it stopped and the cycle became regular again.
Did any of you have/had this problem to where it didn’t last that long?? is there a way to stop it by eating carbs again??
Is keto going to fix a hormonal balance in the long run and is it really worth it?
Any advice or help please!

Thank you!

Shark Week abnormalities for me only lasted two months before re-regulating itself, but I’m also not on birth control so I don’t know how that might affect it.

I went from super irregular to very regular. It can take time for your hormones to regulate (lots of threads on here about this issue). It should work itself out.

I have always been super irregular. It’s better with keto (6-14 weeks between cycles vs. 2 weeks to 4 years before keto).

While it isn’t convenient, I would try to sticking with keto for a while long to see if things right themselves. Or check in with your doctor if you are concerned.

Definitely just stick with it! Mine went wonky too but have leveled out now. When they say “a couple of months” I don’t think they mean you bleed for 8 weeks straight. It just took that long for things to get normal again.
