Spectacle in the bacon department!

My husband does not speak English, and my Spanglish is iffy at best, so while we are madly in love, we don’t have a lot of deep, philosophical conversations. He gets that I am on a diet, likes the results, and is sort of getting the low carb part. But, I don’t think I am ever food shopping with him again. This is the second time I have become a spectacle. So I am selecting bacon, and he says in a stage whisper: “Demasiado gordo!” (“Too much fat!!!”) We live in a Spanish speaking area so all of a sudden we have the attention of every shopper in the bacon aisle. I respond, in the same stage whisper: “Ese es todo el punto!” (That’s the whole point!) The stares……………………He did this once in front of the butcher, as well…

Bacon es el mejor! :sunglasses:
[/quote] That is a true statement! And why am I not getting a gray quote box?

Oh, and I know where my husband got that from. I have loved bacon my entire life. As someone remarked on the forums, cooking bacon is an art! (My dad’s was to die-for.) Pre-keto I was at the grocery store and wanted to pick up some bacon. Another woman got to it first and it took her a good ten minutes. She picked up every package of bacon she could find, sifting through the whole display. My irritation turned to fascination. What was she looking for? I finally asked her. Her response: “The least fatty bacon I can find.” Even pre-Keto, I was thinking, what’s the point?

Spanish Diet Doctor. Don’t speak Spanish myself, but this site in English is extremely helpful so maybe it would help your husband learn about your new way of eating.

That should be interesting. I’d like to see his reaction if he figures out that it’s the beans, rice, and tortillas that make you fat.

It is not language issue.

Me and my wife are in true love and we speak the same accent and we have a circus everytime we go to the supermarkets. women from andromeda, men from proxima centauri.

What brand of toothpaste are you using, Regina? :slightly_smiling_face:

@nancyrsacape Thanks so much! I noticed someone tried to start a Spanish-speaking presence on the forums, but it didn’t seem to take off.

@240lbfatloss Sure was making me fat!!! I’m trying to start by weaning him off the Red Bull and pepsi. He is stubborn, and says since he is a contractor he is working off the sugar. Sigh, - all I can do is try.
