Sour cream & heavy cream powder research: Forget about it

(Jo O) #1

Just went down that rabbit hole in search of manufacturing cream. My Costco or open-to-the-public restaurant suppliers don’t have it.

Regarding dairy powders.
Cons:
Expensive (1 pound of sour cream powder makes 5 cups of reconstituted for $13).
(FYI: Daisy sour cream, 5# for $8 at restaurant supplier.)
Must be stored air tight & cool/refrigerated after opening.
Most have preservatives or additives.

Pros:
Unopened, good long term storage (5-10 years)
A ready fat source if the survivalists are right. But you still need clean water.
Easily found on Amazon.
Convenient

Hopes this saves y’all from late night fruitless research.

This is both interesting, and funny. I suppose if you live in an area where getting to the store often is a problem, then it would be a feasible substitute. Otherwise, I’d just buy the regular stuff.

Cream and Existentialism for yer big keto brains.

Jean-Paul Sartre is sitting at a French cafe, revising his draft of Being and Nothingness. He says to the waitress, “I’d like a cup of coffee, please, with no cream.” The waitress replies, “I’m sorry, Monsieur, but we’re out of cream. How about with no milk?”
