Some people don't want to admit they're wrong

So my sister posted the following article on her FB page:

I posted this link in response:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/health.clevelandclinic.org/2015/02/why-you-should-no-longer-worry-about-cholesterol-in-food/amp/

When I pointed out that many of the citations in the article she posted are over 20 years old and that the information is outdated, she said “Just because it’s older doesn’t mean it’s not still true”. Um, yeah, pretty sure that science actually does evolve and change over time. It’s unbelievable to me that a doctor is still churning out crap articles like this, with much newer studies that refute his claims.

Yea, that’s why we still bleed people with leaches to pull the evil spirits out of them.

Old Doctor Google leads a strange religous movement. They believe everything he says…

Great article! Thanks for sharing. The mainstream is slowly coming around.
My favorite quote from the article.

High levels of “bad” cholesterol in the blood, which have been linked to heart disease, are still a health concern. What’s changed is that many researchers and physicians now believe that eating cholesterol-rich foods such as eggs may not affect the cholesterol that is in your blood.

Excellent response. I’m filing that away for future use.

I love grape kool-aid but it doesn’t love me.

I’ve learned that going back-and-forth with links doesn’t lead to anything, much just like campaigning for a political opponent on either side you won’t be swayed

It’s human nature no one wants to be wrong. Most people will never admit that they made a mistake nor apologize for it

I often say oh have you seen my before picture ? I feel so much better I’ve maintained my weight now for five years . I hope you can find what works for you if you have any questions feel free to contact me

Otherwise it just becomes a pissing match

I think that’s why I really respect Tim Noakes. He was strong enough to look at newer evidence and say “you know what, I was wrong”. That takes guts and integrity

Yudkin was right back in the 1950’s. The great thing about science is that it is true even if you don’t believe in it.

Yeah, I got two words for the ignorant: Ancel. Keys.

And so sad that the poor guy gets raked over the coals for it.

Yes! Science doesn’t play favorites.

Much of the science from 20-50 years ago just needs to be re-interpreted. The studies and observations were and are still valid. However, the interpretations of their observations, and the conclusions drawn thereupon were erroneous.

For example, the famous Seven Countries study, when re-examined today, clearly shows a direct link to heart disease in countries where the population consumed both high levels of sugar and of saturated fats in their diet. Ancel Keys overlooked the sugar part, and ignored the data that showed that countries that consumed lots of saturated fat, but low sugar, did not have significant rates of heart disease. The sugar part of the equation was quantified, but ignored.

Good point!
