So start again

Hello everyone,

Having crashed big time, what with swanning about Europe having happy hols, being incredibly lazy about exercise (well it is hot here at the moment - excuse) and being a complete non cook. If I can’t microwave it or fry it, forget it.
Am now fat, sluggish and eating too much grab food ie: bread.
So today I have started this lifestyle journey again.
Don’t eat breakfast, so early lunch 2 fried eggs with fried spinach. Tea & water. So far so good.
Now what to eat for the rest of my life.
Anyone any ideas? All thoughts gratefully received.

Steak? fried…

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #3

Bacon, pork chops, liver (yummy if not overcooked), steak and kidney stew, lamb, fried chicken (with the skin on, of course!), cauli or broccy mashed or boiled with cheese sauce, Brussels sprouts lightly steamed and smothered in onion sauce, salad with blue cheese dressing . . . .

If you have an oven, roasting is actually dead easy: put it in, wait, take it out, eat! I like to do a pork shoulder (called a picnic here in the States), because it comes with a thick layer of fat, so it bastes itself. I can get a week’s worth of meals from one joint. If you underdo the joint a bit, then you can heat slices in the microwave later, and they’ll come out just right. Poultry is also dead easy to roast, and duck and goose both come with a lot of yummy fat. Use the carcasses to make your own tasty bone broth.

If you aren’t up to making your own gravy or sauce, put a pat of butter on whatever it is. Butter makes a delicious addition all on its own.

Eat the clotted cream, leave the scone! And Keep Calm and Keto On! :bacon:

It’s quick to saute mushrooms and onions to pile onto a fried cheeseburger.

I also take time to find a couple simple recipes for casseroles which will provide several meals.

Glad to be of service, madam. Will there be anything else? :man_in_tuxedo: :bacon:

Yes please. Just one question… I’ve read that there should be ‘an eating window of 8 hrs’. is this correct?
Does it matter what time one eats? Again I’ve read that one should stop eating at 18.00hrs.
Not a huge problem, just a complete change, as I normally eat dinner about 21/22.00hrs.
Thank you. :

Fantastic advice!! Thanks so much that’s gonna help me also on my new journey!

Oh, it is advice that I’ve read. So perhaps I’ll change my day round and eat at lunchtime and snack before 18.00hrs and see how it goes.
When did you start ?

I’ve seen advice to finish eating at least four hours before bedtime, because your insulin stays higher otherwise. (Assuming I’m remembering this correctly.) I can’t speak from experience, but I do know that if I can control snacking between supper and bedtime, I’m better off. Though the cravings win fairly often.
