So much harder than I thought it would be!

Thank you so much Kent! You gave some good ideas and lots of inspiration. I definitely appreciate it.

Yes, thank you @Kent.
Love your shopping list. I’m lucky enough to have a cash and carry card and was planning on investing in a catering pack of bacon. Think I’ll be adding pepperoni and cheese to that!

What is wrong with people? Don’t they know that running any further than the bus stop is madness?
I have a friend who runs. She’s been injured and struggled to recover but is back out there now, she also is epileptic and is losing her sight. Doesn’t stop her though. As well as running she now organises 2 running events a year - an ultra (mere 30 miles for this one) and a lap challenge (see how many laps you can cover in set length of time, some people do enough for an ultra other just a few k) - both of which raise funds for local search and rescue team. She’s mad! Certifiable! Lol and not losing weight on a CICO diet!

It gets better, I promise, After you get through the withdrawal, the cravings will diminish immensely. I am a die hard sugar/carb addict and this is the only way of eating that I’ve tried where I wasn’t constantly thinking about food (especially things that I shouldn’t be eating.

As far as trying to track food, if it’s too overwhelming, cut yourself some slack and try to stick to meats, dairy (optional), oils/fats including butter - yum, and moderate veggies.

The hypothalamus, which is supposed to cobtrol metabolism and hunger, gets inflamed on a high carb high fat diet (like french fries, cake, baked potatoes…). It will take a while to heal this. Your cravings are in part very much like a physiological addiction. If I interpreted one of the studies I found right, there’s even a chance that switching to keto could cause a carb induced inflammation to get worse (but likely not for long). There’s a lot we still don’t know about these mechanisms, but carb addiction is definitely something that happens physiologically in the brain. It’s not just a weak will or psychological attachment.

Make replacement foods if you have to. Sugar and starch free cheesecake is better than refeeding your addiction.

Team Keto has a 15 day kickstart. You get 4 menus with the macros precisely figured out. You can’t mix and match the menus without skewing the macros. The upside is the menus are simple. You can choose a different menu daily and rotate for variety or, do as I am, which is the exact same menu for a week and then going in to the next menu. Not enough variety for a life style, but right now I’m just trying to lose 15 pounds. Will re-evaluate my options in 6 weeks.
