So despondent

#1

Any of the ladies out there experience crazy bloating around their period?
I’m at the end of my 10th weeks on keto & for the first time during (but mostly to the end of my period) I note via my shorts that I’ve put a few inches back on.
This is depressing AF as I was doing so well. I hope that this is hormone related & will shift in the days to come.
Also this week I’ve tried IF for the first time & found it pretty easy but I don’t think I consumed enough fat (possibly calories) in the feast stage mostly because I wasn’t that hungry…
Could I possibly have messed things up for myself?
I’m pretty strict on keeping my carbs to 20 or less a day.
A typical day is

  • BPC for breakfast
  • 2 scrambled eggs with HWC & sometimes with a few slices of cheese, & half avocado or fried paneer.
  • Diet Doctor butter chicken curry with cauliflower.

I snack on a few pieces of cheese, or a handful of almond or macadamia nuts though that’s not every day.

Really feeling sooooooo bummed out by this blip :worried::worried::disappointed::disappointed:

Hormones suck! Just keep doing what you’re doing.

It’s not uncommon at all, just keep going and it’ll settle.

They do! And I’m thinking the despondent feeling probably also stems from my hormones! :weary:

#5

Will do :raised_hands:

Don’t let the hormones trick you. Outsmart those suckers!

#7

Agree! KCKO

Happens to me too, goes back to normal about 3 days afterwards. I think it sucks but at least its only temporary!

#9

Thank goodness it does & I’m truly looking forward to when it happens!
Something I didn’t mention in my original post was to ask if anyone had longer shark week length & it only a few weeks gap between them.
Any exp with that?

Just a thought - do you take any OTC medication for period pain (say, an NSAID like naproxen)? I do, or I’d be curled up in a ball on the floor with cramps. But NSAIDs are famous for making one retain water, so the scale says I put on 1-2 kg during my period. I know however that it’s just water bloat, and a day or two later, once I’ve stopped, the water weight is gone.

I don’t get periods pain but occasionally use Naproxen for muscular pain & didn’t take any around the time of this period. I will however try to be aware of how my body to responds to it other than muscular discomfort.
