Snap, Crackle, Pop!

I enjoy eating pork skins/rinds on an almost daily basis. I like to sprinkle them with some curry powder and then drizzle some olive oil. One day I found that adding a little apple cider vinegar is nice as well, it changes the mouth feel.

Yesterday I made the above concoction and I noticed something new, the bowl was snapping as if I was eating a bowl of rice cereal. I was highly amused and shared my finding with my spouse, she gave me “that look” the one that says “if that’s what it takes to amuse you, ok then”.

Not awfully helpful but I DID find it amusing…

I really like them also. I’m on a quest to find some real ones made in a market store. Mostly all I can find are the commercial bagged skins.

You may have just discovered modern-day Rice Krispies! LOL I’m thinking pork rinds, a little almond milk and sweetener now.

You may need to take a trip to the North Georgia Mountains! We have a flea market here and there is a guy who makes them fresh there all the time. Our door is open.

Google to see if your town has any Mexican Markets, or Super Mercados/Carnecerias. That’s where I get the real deal and they fry them up fresh daily and keep them under a heat lamp. There’s really nothing to compare them to when you can get them fresh!
