Sleep Requirements Before and After Keto

(Krista) #21

Before Keto I would sleep as much as possible, and grumble when the alarm went off at 7:00am. Now I get 6.5 hours a night and I’m up between 5:30 and 6:30am with out the alarm (i’m also listening to my circadian rhythms). I too am enjoying a leisurely morning with coffee and Netflix before the thought of a shower and leaving for work enter my mind.

Before Keto, I would sleep 8-10 hours a night, wake up feeling like crap. After 2 years Keto, and especially after fasting 24 hrs, I only need 6-7 hours sleep. I woke this morning at 3:30 am. Got up, too early to go to work, so I took everything out of the refrigerator and scrubbed the complete interior. Cooked breakfast at 5 am, went to work at 6 am. My wife wonders where all my energy is coming from…fat.

I am only a little over a month in to this and already I am finding that my sleep patterns have changed. I’m not sleepy until around midnight and I’m up 5-6 hours later.
