Eat more, especially fat. You are eating about the level of an IR sedetary person your size except perhaps in your protein which is a little higher than what such a person would eat
Skinny Keto as a sub-group?
Dex, eat more fat and up calories if your still hungry. Listen to your body,

I would find a subsection like this very helpful! I think I started keto/IF before I was clinically prediabetic, but it is clear that I will need to eat like this for the rest of my life for my improved health.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for your thoughtful post.
It has never bothers me when people are seeking out keto for the core health benefits and I donât mind trying to answer question from that perspective when I have an insight. My hope is that eventually I will be one of those healthy thin keto people.
The posters I have a more difficult time connecting with are those looking at keto ⊠perhaps vanity keto. That person who is just looking to drop a quick 15 lb to fit into a dress or those looking to achieve some short term body building goal. This is just not my cup of tea, but I am glad that other members respond to those posts.
I, personally, would not segregate vanity keto from the rest of the community. If I only focus on my narrow area of interest then I donât get exposure to other perspectives and much of the weight loss industry, likely most, is targeted at the vanity market rather than the health market. Who knows ⊠perhaps some of the people who came to this forum for advice on how to get cut before a body building competition will learn about the long term health benefits of the ketogenic diet.
Keto for Life!
Most Respectfully,
Richard
While I think you raise a very valid point from the perspective of an author of answers, the overwhelming feedback from the askers of questions seems to be pro a ''lean keto category since it would greatly reduce wasted time to find an appropriate answer for their situation and hopefully reduce the re-asking of questions that have already been well answered.
To me, it in no way separates the community, just segments the available information into more useful categories and of course would never preclude you or anyone else reading or answering in either or any category.
I think it will help normalize a ketogenic lifestyle for those without major health problems and wonât keep this population out of the main forum. In fact, I think it will help bring folks here more often.
@FatMan / Richard, I love this positive, chill attitude! Personally I have found the open-mindedness and inclusive approach of the people on this forum to be a real joy. Like a big warm hug or perfectly made cup of tea just when you needed some comfort!
And the generous nature of advice and information sharing has been genuinely inspiring. Such kindness among strangers with a shared interest is no small feat in this busy and often negative world at the minute. The founders and veteran members have created a cool community. SUCH a lovely collection of folk, all helping each other out in their often drastically different stages of Keto, of health, of life, of âŠShark Weeks marriages, in-law visits, muscle ripping, emotional venting, celebrating, laughing, scientific technicalities, health scares, and everything in between.
I havenât experienced anyone seeming overtly frustrated at my having questions as a keto-for-prevention or Leano - but maybe Ive just been oblivious!! And I cringe at the thought that I could have wasted time for others, so I really hope not @Capnbob! So I think the idea of a handy tag or group to flag questions specifically prevention related, but it sounds like the time wasting or thread Organization aspect might be a slightly different one? I dunno!
All the best
No-one wants to change the improbably beautiful nature of the forums , just a way to organize it better as it grows in size, scope and diversity. At 15000 members it is one thing, at 50000 and 250000 it will need better more extensive metadata and structure to manage the vast(er) quantity of content being created and requested/searched.
There are already many more groups/tags than when it started just over a year ago⊠this would be just another one.
As the wife of a TOFI, I would love to see this kind of subgroup. Not much info on how to keep TOFI weight on in a healthy manner. DH drops weight so easily and he wants to eat carbs to put it back on but he is a T2D keeping it under control with diet and exercise. We both need to build muscle to prevent further bone loss.
I am in maintenance so weight loss is not my primary focus anymore either. I think a sub forum for those not wanting to lose would be excellent.
I had to smile at the cup of tea analogy. Iâm a tea drinker, yet find myself missing out on my evening pot of tea because Iâm so engrossed in reading the forum!
As you can tell from my screen name I am keto for health reasons, mainly CfS/ME and chronic pain however I am lean, never had weight issues so in this case I am not sure which camo I would fall into. I am doing it to help reduce my ailments and better my health but the longer I am on it and the more positive stories i see from others (of any size, shape or reason for doing this) the more motivated and supported I feel that this is the right thing to do for life regardless. Hence I kind of see it from both sides. I find that searching using keywords (ie, pain or M.E or chronic illness) is enough to find threads of interest and relevance to me. And despite never having had weight issues I must say that on my difficult days just seeing some of the confident smiling faces and positive stories of the (many many) posters on here who update about weightloss/facegains etc I find they always help to perk my day up a little and I enjoy knowing how happy and healthy this WOE is for others.
Also I imagine that those who are doing it for weightloss probably gain a lot of confidence knowing that others without weight problems are also doing it but for orher reasons. I would hate for this to become devisive. Also where to draw the line with separate subgroups. Should we have separate male and female ones etc seeing as how so much is written about shark week which many male members may find frustrating having to trawl through? Seaech using key words for what you want and I donât see any issue with finding relevant info to your own requirements. Hx
I think the men already assumed there were super-secret channels for discussions of Shark Weekâą now itâs just out in the open. I think weâre happy knowing that yâall are comfortable enough to not feel like it should be something hidden shamefully. Like chocolate ice cream disaster pants.
Since there are already women specific groups within KF and a whole podcast series for women, I think youâve kinda missed the point. The sub-groups within the forum donât divide people, they help organize information more relevantly. No one is blocked from anything, all posts all flow through the latest posts stream that many people use as their main browsing medium and Discourse will be able to do a better job of putting relevant posts below the one you have just reviewed. Keyword searching is fine if you already know good keywords and search strategies but that is not how most people start when researching something new.
I just donât get this âdivisivenessâ issue.
Ah, Capnbob, youâll have to enlighten me as to how to get to some of these pther subgroups then. Sorry, I didnât realise there were such already. I only access the forum from my phone so not sure if that makes a difference but I only get ablist of categories, ie food, health etc. I can see a blog within âcommunityâ called keto woman but thatâs about it. Mind you I probably use this in a different way to most and find keyword search easier as I have to limit my time quite severely for any screen time or I start to go a bit wibble! Probably a good idea thenfor those that do their searches in other ways and if it helps to auto-populate like posts for people.
Perhaps because on a recent previous thread on the subject, someone suggested putting badges on peopleâs avatars so everyone would know who was who. If I remember correctly, two names mentioned were âskinnyâ and âgainersâ. âGainersâ???
I donât remember who posted that, and I suspect the poster had no ill intent, but the suggestion was rather a turn-off IMO.
The phone is a lot more restrictive of what you can see than the other platforms.
Check it out from a PC/Mac/iPad and youâll see a lot of subgroups within each of the main one. Iâm just suggesting one or two more of those within the existing top line structure. You probably wouldnât even notice on a phone if youâre just browsing the top threads.
Maybe âGainersâ referred to people trying to add mass/muscle using keto methods? No idea, just how I took it.
I agree. There are all kinds of sub forums, there is one geared towards athletic performance etc. While the women have a subforum, men can see it and post in it too. There is no gatekeeper in that sense.
T2D folks who are TOFIs have a hard time finding info on how to stay keto without losing weight, they need to lose fat without having the scales slide downwards. For those of us who have battled the scales going up, that is a hard concept to wrap your mind around, but my husband is facing the challenge of not getting too thin while controlling his numbers with diet and exercise.
