Skin Improvements with Keto, Eczema gone!

(Susan) #21

Thanks! I think from another post that showed 5 levels of commitment, since we only count carbs, we’re considered “lazy” keto. The weight loss has been nice, getting rid of eczema would be great. Thanks for your response. We’ll keep on it.

This past weekend we visited my 90-year-old parents. Not to cause them meal problems we just ate whatever she fixed. All good southern food, but not keto. We felt a little bloated, but didn’t gain back any weigt. That was nice.

Thanks again.

We love butter and I’ve always cooked with it and evoo, but it sounds icky in coffee, is it? Maybe a dollop on my eggs instead?

I normally take my coffee black, but if I want to avoid eating until dinner I add a a healthy tablespoon of butter, one of coconut oil, HWC and a small amount of fake sugar. Mostly it just tastes like my coffee used to when I used milk and sugar many years ago. It sounds stranger than it tastes. It doesn’t move my blood glucose readings at all.

It does sound strange, I’ll give it a try.

I don’t know how much protein we eat, but we like meat, so betting it’s probably okay or even a bit high.

I thought so too until I tried it. OMG. Then I wish I hadn’t because I was still afraid of fat.

I’m so over that now

This is inspiring! Thank you!! I’m on day 14 of keto and my psoriasis ( scalp, ear’ elbows, firearms, shin, calf and abdomen) seemed to get better but then flare up again. I’m sticking with it! Over all I feel way better and more energy. My scalp would burn and itch so bad the inflamation would nag at me all day and at night I would sleep with an ice pack on the base of my head/neck. Have only done that last night of the past two weeks ( may be due to physical work stress) but I do feel it’s receding on my scalp. No help from doctors as one said psoriasis another dermatitis another psoriasis. None offering me a referal to a specialist and only giving me a cream which I can’t put on my head. So I’ve taken it amongst myself because I don’t want a band aid I want to find the cause and prevent it. It has destroyed my confidence and causes me pain and I have declared war against it!!! I’m drinking over 96 FL oz h2o and coconut oil and collagen peptides daily and noticed my skin feels more elastic, supple and moist and glowing. I am going to start putting coconut oil on topically as well. I did notice olive oil helps my scalp but I can’t always do that. Thanks for sharing, it hives me hope.

I eat pretty strict keto with lots of eggs, fresh meat, about a cup of green vegetables at most meals, and lots of fat from butter, ghee, olive oil, macadamia nuts, and avocado. I use a tsp. of MCT oil in my coffee. I try to limit my consumption of high histamine keto foods, such as cured meets, aged cheeses, olives, capers, wine, chocolate, and pickles. These are some of my favorite foods, though, so I do eat them occasionally. When I’ve overloaded on them, I get immediate redness around my mouth and itchy lips. If I really overdo it, I’ll have a full blown allergy attack and eczema flair. You might look at high histamine food lists to see if you are eating a lot of those foods. I find that I can keep my skin issues and histamine intolerance in check now by eating moderate-histamine keto. Just doing a low histamine diet didn’t provide relief for me. I think the key for me is that keto reduces the inflammation. I hope keto cures you eventually, too. Best to you! D

Wow incredible! Happy for you

The most exciting thing about seeing my skin improve is I have tangible, physical evidence I can see with my own eyes that keto is healing my body.

I’m sure there is so much more going on internally that I can’t see or feel or measure but I know it must be happening if my skin is showing such improvement.

Nice to focus on something besides the evil scale!!! :smiling_imp:

I have always sneezed (a lot) when I drink wine, didn’t know until I looked it up recently that wine has histamines. Pickles, and some of the other foods you mentioned don’t affect me the same way.

Janie. I too am a black coffee drinker. I now use a tablespoon of Ghee/coconut oil in my coffee everyday. It tastes slightly like coconut and is delicious. Made by Carrington Farms. I get it at wally world.

I’ve been doing Keto for almost six weeks. I was diagnosed a couple years ago as a Type 2 but didn’t take it serious. Now I am. I’ll be 60 next year. A few months ago I noticed I was getting liver spots on my hands and arms. I guess at my advanced age that’s to be expected. I noticed yesterday they are gone. I see a slight shadow where they were but man oh man. What else will be getting fixed with this new lifestyle? I am so excited for my future.
