Single blinded science reviews - bias

(ianrobo) #1

Tells us nothing we did not know but basically where a reviewer knows the writer of a studyvthen bias comes in. It is why @richard that any study not double bonded is not really worth it, including bed that support us.

It’s worth blinding peer review if for no other reason than to prevent the “Matilda effect” (where a male name appearing first increases it’s chance of passing review). I’m totally a fan of blinding the scientists involved so there isn’t an inherent appeal top authority and the science stands for itself.

in the twitter thread I picked this up on it was fascinating to read how may Dr’s were commenting on just what really happens and how happy they are to see this.

oh BTW Richard the thread was not about food studies but obviously still relevant.

That’s a bit harsh, don’t you think?
