Been doing keto on and off for last 6mo.
I do not have diabetes and am in good health
Have had this same experience a few time’s now where I was OK and firmly in Ketosis 15-40 mg/dL then I will get ill.
Last night symptoms built up into AM: didnt sleep all night, No energy, stomach pains, wanted to puke, i shit myself😁
…in AM noticed incredible thirst.
when using keto strip it will turn darkest purple INSTANTLY. no response time. so 160+mg/dL
This AM for first time during these spells I tested blood glucose@96. So apparently not DKA
Usually I wait it out.
Today I drank a couple glasses of water and within an hour-ish I felt a lot better. Keto strips then started showing normal 15-40 range.
May be kicking myself out of keto from too many carbs and my body stops using ketones and they build up? iDK. Didn’t think that happened. Thought the body used up what energy it could.
Any ideas on what’s going on?
Just to be (maybe) helpful I included what I ate yesterday in order:
I drink plenty of water and coat my foods in salt.
AM
-500 cal ribeye
-(1 slice-of-bread-sized) piece fatty pork with olive oil dressing
-cup of asparagus drenched in olive oil+garlic
-1T c8 oil+1T coconut oil+2T cream+3T whole milk
PM
-(1 slice-of-bread-sized) piece fatty pork with olive oil dressing
-small salad with 2T olive oil/vinegar
-1T c8 oil+1T coconut oil+2T cream+1/4C whole milk
-cup of tea with1 TEAspoon sugar, 1T cream, cinnamon
-1teaspoon olive oil
-1T butter
-1T c8, 1.5 T coconut oil, 2T cream, 1/4C whole milk
-4T almond butter (Justin’s no sugar)
