Sick at thought of eating

#1

I just started trying to eat keto this past Saturday and yesterday and today I have been struggling. My body is rebelling at the thought of eating one more high fat item. I am even getting sick to my stomach when brewing my coffee because I have been drinking it all fatty lately. My Dr. Recommended this diet for me because I am pre-diabetes and despite efforts, I have been gaining in my AIC and scale numbers over the past year. I am wondering if there is something going on with my body that is making me detest the idea of more fatty foods or this this normal and it will go away? The food I have prepared is tasty, so it’s not that I don’t like the taste and when instant eating it, I am ok, but I am avoiding eating until I am quite hungry because my body feels instantly.sock at the thought of eating the food.

Maybe start a bit slower and just work on cutting out refined foods and getting your carb count down. Your body will go through various stages of adjustment, possible keto flu etc. Just as long as you keep pointed in the right direction - it will eventually all come together. And it might be hard to believe right now, as you stick to this - one day you will find yourself craving fat. For myself, after years of avoiding fat, I had a very difficult time wrapping my head and body around the whole notion. But it ends up being the thing I need in order to stay satisifed.

Thanks for the “permission” to take it slow. I do like making my own foods, but have been eating a lot of pre-made foods lately. Would it be ok to start out a meal at a time to get my body used to this new way of eating (while still working on decreasing carbs the rest of the day, but not necessarily increasing fat yet)? I find I miss my mid day apple and cheese snack. It feels refreshing to eat it.

We didn’t agree with keto coffee in the beginning and it is disgusting without emulsifying it first, the oil stays on top and is stomach upsetting. If you can just do bacon and eggs, meat and salad for a week. Maybe you’ll start craving fat and bulletproof coffee or fat bombs. Don’t try to drink your fat right off the bat, and the KETO diet is the greatest way to get healthy, keep calm and keto on. Your body is not rebelling, I think maybe we are all psyched out in a bad way about it at first, but it gets better, especially once well in ketosis, one doesn’t want to stop! When one sees pounds go down on the scale and as clothes get bigger on one’s body, it’s really motivating and inspiring. I really wish I found ketogenics 30 years ago! Don’t give up, because it’s a wonderful diet! And one doesn’t have to fast, but intermittent fasting and fasting are great tools to use for weight loss and mental clarity, carbage just fogs the brain. Fat is where it’s at, not on the body but what is good to eat, butter, BACON, BACON, cheese, BACON, whole full fat cream, full fat everything and even BACON. I found Carls way of making bacon was the best so far, we make up a couple of pounds a week just to snack on. Look up Carl’s best way of making bacon in the oven, wonderful stuff! I hope you can eat bacon.

Eat the cheese, ditch the apple.

I would say that just for now cut out all the refined carbs and don’t worry about adding fats for the time being. No root veg, pasta, bread, rice and fruits. You can have a few berries if desperate. Gradually add in more fat and have fattier cuts of meat. You will get there honest! KCKO

Celery and cheese is nice too. I add lemon to the butter I add to veggies. Cuts the greasy taste/mouth feel.

Hi, I’m new to this forum but not to keto. A lot of people feel like they have to hit their fat macros when they first start - I did the same thing. But in reality, you should just eat fat until you are satiated; you don’t have to eat 100 grams a day if you don’t want. I usually keep it to around 60 grams. The people who should try to stick to their fat macros are people who are doing keto as a cancer treatment or for epilepsy. For losing weight, it’s not necessary. As long as you eat enough fat to keep you from hunger and cravings, you’ll be fine.

Maybe try a gradual change on that, too. Maybe 1/2 an apple and celery sticks? I love celery and cheese. Then, you can gradually phase out the apple without feeling deprived. Make certain you are using full-fat cheese. Low-fat varieties add carbs to compensate.

Good luck, we’ve got your back. You can do this! :muscle:t2:
