For the first time in I don’t even know how long I went shopping and fitted into every item of clothing I tried on minus one top that was just bizarre in anycase. I tried on UK size 16 and 14 clothing. And ended up taking home some new gym wear, 2 short black dresses and some tights. I went to all the main highstreet stores and the ones I tried clothes on fitted. So happy right now … Shopping I hated for size reasons. I might come to like it
Shopping for new clothes
My SO is down 4-6 sizes and I go clothes shopping with her (I have a good eye for good clothes)
I agree with your scenario completely. she can now shop at regular stores, in regular sizes - no need to seek out specialty “fat lady clothes”
Hideous plus size clothing choices once inspired me to write this parody to the tune of the Beatles “When I’m 64.” The past few fashion years have been exceptionally bad.
When I’m 204
When we get larger like we can do,
as we gain in years,
Who’s the funny person who designs the clothes?
If I find them, we’ll come to blows!
Out shopping until a quarter to three
Can’t take anymore -
Why do you clothe me as if you loathe me,
When I’m 204?
oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oooo
You’ll get larger too, (ah ah ah ah ah)
And if I have my way,
I’ll see them on you!
There on the t-shirt, it’s Micky Mouse
Or two great big lips.
Here’s another of my very special gripes -
Horizontal green and red stripes.
Going out shopping, looking for clothes,
It’s an awful chore.
Why do you clothe me as if you loathe me,
When I’m 204?
Every summer I can’t find a nice shirt that will fit me right - they are way too loud -
I’m not liking that.
They say to everyone
Look at me, I’m fat!
Gigantic flowers, kittens and bows,
That’s what’s in my size.
Making me look ugly seems to be your goal -
These shirts need a volume control!
Give me your answer, telling me why
Truly I implore -
Why do you clothe me as if you loathe me,
When I’m 204?
Whoo!
Yes when we get down into the normal sizes it really makes a difference when going clothes shopping. Congratulations, I know it’s a thrill to accomplish that.
I have a large Rubbermaid container in my closet full of clothes that are too small. It’s been there for years. Since I started keto, every ten pounds or so I try on a few things to see if they now fit. Many of the things in the container are brand new, and whenever I find something that now fits, I consider it “reclaimed”. It’s like shopping, but no money is involved!
Love that , I have a pair of jeans and a dress in my wardrobe I keep just for this purpose. One day I’ll wear them.
I now have a container in my storage room with some of the clothes that no longer fit because they are way too big. It helps me remember how far I’ve come. I’m looking forward to the comparison of clothes when I finally get down to my goal weight.
FYI - down 86 lbs since September 2017, about 100 to 114 to go.
Wowsers … That’s amazing… Well done
I’m down 38lp and have another 42lp to go almost half way and it’s exiting
Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment! Hope I will be doing the same in the not too distant future!
@misterbutters, Absolutely love this! And I agree, why do prints have to be so brightly colored and huge??? The giant floral patterns that are hideous, and some of the color combinations. I especially notice it when I look at a designer who has the regular sizes, and then creates the “Plus Size” line. The Plus size clothes usually look nothing like the regular misses sizes. Sheesh!
@daniellealberta, I have a large Rubbermaid container as well, full of beautiful sweaters, some never worn, that I hope to fit into again!
