Shirataki noodle texture

OK, got a pack of the noodles, the water packed type. Made a nice pot of Alfredo sauce. I rinsed the noodles really well and put then in the sauce to heat up. The texture was poor to put it mildly. soft and rubbery. If the texture would have been better a bit more salt and garlic and it would have been fine.

So do some brands have better texture? Or do some people just have a better tolerance to that texture? : )

The ones I use are called Pasta Zero, for them they have you rinse, boil for 2 minutes then basically fry in a DRY pan for a minute which does something to the texture. I like them they were very pasta like, granted, pasta LIKE but I’ll take it!

Ah yea, now I remember Richard and Carl talking about that part. OK, I’ll get another pack and try the short boil / dry pan method to see how that changes things. Thanks!

Here’s a bit more information on the “boil / dry pan fry” trick to cooking shirataki noodles.
