Sharing Keto

(Paul Allen) #1

So, here is today’s Keto share…
My wife & I just finished our early morning workout and planned to eat some breakfast out before going home (at First Watch (at various places in the US) My goto is a bacon avocado omelet with greens, no bread, no fruit -of course. As we were going in, we invited a lady (by herself) to eat with us. As we ordered, we let her know that we didn’t eat like most people. This led to a long conversation about the keto way of eating.
It turned out that the lady’s husband has (like myself) T2DM and she got very interested in what we were saying. We exchanged emails and will followup on more information like book lists and podcasts. As we were leaving it turned out we had worked with her mother so that made her trust us and our information a little better.
So what’s the last time you shared the keto way with a stranger?
BTW, I did buy her breakfast even though it was mostly carbage.

I am still trying to spread the word on how great I feel and this is a way of eating for life. I don’t like to preach, or push it on people, so only when people ask I explain more about the diet.

I still get a ton of eye-rolling and crazy stares, so have to take baby steps.

Same here. I’ve found that most people lose interest when I mention eating more fat. The old dogma runs deep. But when someone is genuinely interested it can be a great conversation.

Just a follow up, the lady initially asked about our way of eating and has since emailed me for some more information!

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.
As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi

One of my favorite quotes.
