Share Your Label Please 😀

Yesterday my neighbor stopped by to have me help her open a can of beets.

We got to yapping about her website and she forgot to take her can back home.

When I noticed it, I looked at the ingredients as I was walking it back to her place.

It had high fructose corn syrup in there!

She’s supposed to be doing low carb so I scolded her and moved on.

Anyway, I like seeing what exactly is in anything pre-packed or “processed.”

Thought we all might learn from each other by sharing some labels off condiments or other things.

Always like a treasure hunt to try and find something you weren’t aware was in there.

But show me clean and dirty please.

No judgement, just better awareness.

I’ll kick off with what went into my shrimp boats last night. Trying to use up some things in my cupboard still so I know fresh shrimp would have been better.

What do they use in the keto mayo?

It’s not so much whether a “bad” ingredient is there, but how much of it there is. It can have sugar and HFCS, but if a reasonable serving size still rounds to zero or is low in net carbs, it’s generally not an issue.

The ones that worry me are Atkins bars with maltitol. Their label claim of net carbs is based on subtracting out ALL of the sugar alcohols, but maltitol should only be half-subtracted out because it still has a digestible portion to it, amounting to more than 2 calories per gram.

Even eggs and cheese are not zero carb items. And certainly not HWC.

That’s on the first pic. Coconut oil.
I only bought that because it was on sale like two for the price of one and they were removing it from the store. Cleared out the shelf. LOL but I am planning to just make my own mayonnaise

I’m hoping people will just share labels with me. I know there’s some extra carbs in a couple of things, but I like to see all the ingredients of things that I might not be looking at.

It has 0 sugar, and it was the only mayo I found that did, I bought it at Costco.
I mix it with my organic extra virgin olive oil that I bought at Costco too and some spices to make a dip for raw veggies or as a salad dressing.

This is amazing. And cheaper than Frank’s.
