Say it isn't so. I gave up coffee, now I hear I should give up tea

Just to add further speculation, I spoke with Jackie Eberstein (Dr. Atkin’s RN) at Keto Fest. She said they recommended that coffee (or other caffeinated beverages) be limited to no more than 3 servings per day, as they saw that it tended to stall weight loss at their clinic. She didn’t specify whether it was the caffeine causing cortisol spikes (which could increase glucose & therefore insulin) &/or all the other stuff folks put in the drink.

I would really love to pick her brain on this. I love coffee but since going keto I’ve had to limit my caffeine intake due to jitters and anxiety symptoms. I now drink a decent amount of decaf but I wonder if I should all but give it up? Coffee, even decaf, causes some sort of insulin/hormone release in me for sure. I can feel my digestive system doing some strange things when I drink black coffee in a fasted state. It also makes me hungry sooner in the day I’ve noticed.

Now, looking at the excerpt from that study, I am wondering a couple of things: First, since the effect was observed in vitro, does it even apply in vivo? Secondly, since the cell in which the effect was observed was a fat cell, would this effect apply to lean cells? Lastly, since the fat cell came from an epididymus, would women even have to worry about this result at all?

I gave up coffee too and have been drinking bullet proof green tea in the morning. 3 cups hot water, two tea bags, 2 tbsp unsalted butter, 2 tbsp Mct oil, 3 tbsp stevia. All blended for a few minutes. It is quite enjoyable.

How quickly were you booted out?
