Salt....

(Ashley) #1

I’ve been using the search trying to find out any ideas. I think I am constantly having a less than amount of daily salt intake. Does anyone know of any salt tablets that would help? I have to have more salt than most people and I’m just having a hard time getting that much salt.

Cup of broth is quite salty.

Problem is I’m not finding any that doesn’t have added sugars and stuff.

Himalayan Pink comes in rock form. That is what I use, and you can just pop a rock in the mouth as candy or a tablet.

I use the pink rock salt. I keep a small jar at my desk and will shake out 5 or so small lumps onto my mouse pad then suck away one by one over about an hour.

I did just order sodium chloride tablets though so I could take while running. I haven’t received them yet or tried them out, so I can’t give you an opinion of them yet. I too can’t seem to get enough salt when I’m working out, so I’m hoping this will help.

Obviously salting food is huge and the easiest way, do a ketoade and go a little heavier on the salt, how much are you shooting for daily?

(Ashley) #8

I can’t stand the ketoade and instead of 3-5 g, I need about 8g bcos I have a autoimmune disease. I salt everything, just isn’t enough 8 is a lot of salt.

How long does one last because it’s a little on the expensive side for me depending on length

(Ashley) #10

Let me know how the tablets go!!!

(Ashley) #11

I will have to grab some and see if that helps!

8g is pretty descent, I fight a couple autoimmune issues myself. What exactly about ketoade can’t you stand? You can make it taste however you want. If your just basically salting water as many do, I’d agree that would taste terrible.

I’m not sure, I’ve tried different flavors in it, tried different ways just can’t drink it. I just know I’m at salt deficit. I been using zipfizz for other electrolytes, need more salt though.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #14

I add in salt in my ZipFizz. I’ve actually grown to like the salty flavor of it.

I may do that once I get used to it, I don’t use artificial sweeteners much so I’m adjusting to the taste, I had to dilute it into 4, 24 ounce glasses.

Gotcha, saw in the other post you don’t use the sweeteners, near impossible for it to taste good without those. I’d say the pills then.

For expense purposes, you have the option of making your own pills. Sodium chloride and empty pills capsules.

For 8g (8,000 mg) of sodium I think it’s about 4 teaspoons of salt. Honestly, sometimes I just dump a 1/2 teaspoon of salt on my tongue and wash it down with water as fast as possible. But, I also drink salt water sometimes so I’m a little crazy. You could try better than bouillon for the broth. It’s very easy to salt broth and it’s comforting to drink with butter or cream. The better than bouillon has some stuff but, for me, it’s such a minor amount. You could also consider sole water.

(Ashley) #18

I will look into the capsules, what is sole water?

(Ashley) #19

Just is hard trying to get that much in, I’m constantly having to count to see where I’m at, it’s hard to do everyday, I have to have it though because I have dysautonomia and without it, I feel very light headed dizzy and extremely ill.

I love the european stock cubes from the Kallo brand. No weird additives, minimal carbs, and several organic kinds too. Super rich taste too. I buy them on Amazon, in 3-5 packs, and mix them with collagen for quick n’ tasty bone broth.

Also, I start the day with concentrated salt water in my morning mug of water. I make my concentrated salt water (called “sole” in French, as it’s a solution of sunshine) by soaking inch-size chunks of Himalayan hand-mined crystal salt in their own container, and just add a teaspoon to my morning water. Before I was 100% fat adapted around month 6, I was often also taking an extra teaspoon of concentrated salt water in a mug of water before bed, or simply putting some good salt under the tongue and then washing it down with water. I buy the salt chunks on Amazon too.
