Salad dressings, what's your go to?

I read somewhere that black walnut trees can kill a field and possibly poison animals grazing in the field or eating the fallen nuts. Any truth to that?

Maybe. It was on the property when we bought it.

I keep my dog away from it when we throw balls and frisbees in the meadow so she doesn’t eat one of the nuts since she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth!

Not gonna test that theory with my pup!

This made me check out the black walnut issue. There are two black walnut tree in our neighbor’s yard, they have a great dog. One of the trees is dying, neither is a lovely healthy tree for that matter, and we are thinking of asking them if they would like to share the cost of removal. So maybe now both should go? The second slide addresses black walnuts and there effect on pets…

So it is not the walnuts themselves that are toxic, but possibly the mold that grows on fallen nuts.

Of course, after reading that article, you are going to want to lock your pet up and never let it out of the house. :scream:

I thought it was the high concentrations of phenols, etc., in the green husks.

Could be, I don’t know. My comment was based on the article linked in the post above mine.
