Sad mini conversation at work

(eat more) #1

the girls were talking about protein powder and that’s all they can have in the morning (eating anything else and they feel “sick”) and i naively said “or you could just not eat until you’re ready”

i kind of got my ish jumped

“uh nooo i already have a effed up metabolism!”

i calmly said “oh well i’ve been reading a lot and i’ve read that keeping insulin low and going longer between meals is beneficial…”
shut down with
“uh i’m doing what my doctor said and she said i need to restart my metabolism as soon as i wake up…i’m doing what my doctor said!”

so i shut my face :disappointed:

the saddest part is that this girl has had unexplained weight gain and other issues over the last 5 years or so and the doctors haven’t helped in all of that time so why is she still treating their word as gospel? :frowning2:

It’s hard when we’ve been conditioned to revere the medical profession as “those who know all”. If you’re concerned about the path she’s taking, maybe print out the 2KD introductory pamphlet on Keto and write out a kind little note for her saying that you’re there if she has any questions and leave it on her desk?

oh no her tone and mannerisms made it clear to butt the eff out…i’ve already touched that stove
she’ll ask if she wants info

#5

Yikes! Yep, stay clear and only approach with caution.

I don’t know how long you have been keto or the amount of extra weight you’d like to lose, but they will see as you do lose the weight, look and become a healthier person, while they still struggle, gain weight, constantly hungry and tired, then maybe they may come to you and be a little more interested in what it is you are doing. I think for a lot of people they need to see it with their own eyes. Back in Jan I suggested to a few people that have posted of FB that they were starting Weight Watchers, again (guess it didn’t work the first few times, huh?), to maybe read up on and consider eating keto instead and I would steer them in the right direction to get them the info they need to learn about it and get started and most just ignored it, said they liked WW, or said they might try their own “modified” version )oh boy) of it. So, all we can really do is plant the seed and either provide the info if they are interested or just back off if they are not. Not surprisingly, those that said they were sticking with WW are already posting pictures of the meals they are eating filled with crappy carbage and actually looking heavier than they did in Jan.

Part of the problem with converting coworkers to Keto is that a they don’t know what to eat or how to “make a meal plan.” The old tried and true they can do in their sleep. Whether it works or not is not relevant. I had a coworker tell me she was too intimidated by Keto to try it. okaaaay…

I have converted 2 people to Keto (my trainer and hair dresser). But, they asked, I didn’t push. We just always talk about health and fitness, so the conversation just goes there.

If people are not receptive, then I don’t talk about it.

So funny though, this is the easiest ‘diet’ I’ve ever been on.

Do you know of a specific download or are you referring to their home page at http://2ketodudes.com?

I’m one of those people who have joined Weight Watchers a number of times. Funny thing is Weight Watchers changes their program about every five years or so based on the latest “science.” I lost 50 lbs on WW, but gained it all back when I stopped tracking every little thing I ate. That’s why I joined at least three times.

The keto WOE has been the same since I did the original Atkins diet back in 1972. I’m sticking with Keto because it works for me and is sustainable for life. And I save the money I paid in membership fees to spend on cream, bacon, and various hard cheeses.

That is a bit sad. This is the easiest “diet” I’ve ever tried. Bonus is feeling great, healing, and losing weight!

WW worked for me the first time (I was 19). Any time after that it was like swimming in mud. I followed everything and lost nothing. The last time I even gained. The leader was most helpful when she made it clear she didn’t believe I was following the program perfectly. I walked out and never went back.

Love it!

And if you fast 1 or 2 days each week, that’s 1 or 2 days’ worth of food shopping money saved to bump up the quality of what you buy the other days.

It’s a downloadable file. Check out Booklet.2Keto.com

Great, thanks!

@Sheri_Knauer the fat i’m aiming to lose is “naked fat” ie; they don’t really see it :joy: (and they think i’m a crazy gym rat even tho i go a lot less since going keto and that i’m “good with my food” because i’ve always brought food from home instead of going to subway or the crazy salad place LOL)

exactly.

i’m not actually trying to convert anyone…they were just complaining about having to eat in the morning and not eating is actually a solution to that complaint :joy:

i am sure this girl snapped at me out of frustration with her own situation and trying to fix it for years…
the only way she’s been taught, that isn’t working…listening to her doctor…and i straight up contradicted her doc’s advice. (which maybe she knows isn’t right or working and hasn’t become conscious of it yet)

(Keto in Katy) #17

How’s that working out for ya

(eat more) #18

i didn’t say it!!!

and this girl will cut a B just with her eyes…i’m not scared it just isn’t worth the negative vibe to fight her on what she thinks she knows

I actually use some of the same words, “doctor’s orders,” to explain why I don’t eat carbs. Of course he said “low carb,” but he’s happy with the success even if he doesn’t know the rest of the story.

(Jacquie) #20

Yep. Choose your battles.
