Rhonda Patrick interviews Dr Eric Verdin

Apparently a Ketogenic diet is hard to stay on … but if you can stay on it it’s ideal to combat aging, if you can’t then intermittent fasting may be the next best thing.

Just think about what the dietary authorities these days are recommending 3 meals and 3 snacks I think based on what we are learning this is the worst possible way that you can possibly eat

That’s interesting.

I am seeing more and more doctors, and less and less on the fringe, that are picking up pieces of the keto diet and endorsing them. “Sugar is bad” is one of the more popular ones. “Starchy carbs are bad” seems to be coming onto the radar screen, just a little. And Dr. Verdin suggesting, basically, “intermittent fasting” is yet another. These docs don’t usually go full out to endorse a keto way of eating, but they’re making steps in the right direction.

It’s at least a little bit encouraging.

Thanks for sharing, Richard!

Agreed, my doctor still likes to use the term “balanced diet” (code for “HEALTHY” carbohydrates) but he doesn’t freak out about keto or fasting the way my doctors did a decade ago. They’re slowly coming around for sure. The question, is it too late? Can the western health trends be reversed? As much as I hate government, i think it will take some serious taxation and government intervention at this point. The opportunity to change the state of things by simply disseminating information has long since passed. The sheeple need big government to hold their hands on this one or the epidemic will continue

That’s a top down approach.

I think it’s going to be bottom up, diabetics healing themselves and then because there is a genetic component to this securing their family’s health. And then friends at work, church, on facebook, each person taking responsibility for others around them.

Eventually a group of diabetics will get together a class action and sue the Dietitians Associations and Diabetes peak bodies - and when they win, the dietary guidelines will be replaced with statement that fall into 3 categories “What we know”, “What we believe”, or “What we suspect”, and I believe in the category of what we believe will be “Type 2 Diabetics who can tolerate a ketogenic diet should go on one”.

I would consider that to be a win for us.

Agreed, but I’m talking more from a perspective of not having the whole economy and medical system collapse. I love that people are discovering keto and health and curing diabetes but Medicare will be broke in a few years and gdp will start tp plummet in America as we lose healthy young people. I think government intervention will be necessary to actually save the country. Just my thoughts. I’m not sure what the state of things in Australia are
