Remember when

(eat more) #1

you used to dab the grease off your pizza with a napkin?

order salad dresing on the side and dip your fork with each bite?

buy turkey “bacon”?

buy everything in low or non fat?

egg whites instead of whole eggs?

only have a sliver of avocado?

eat baked potatoes with salsa?

i don’t miss any of that shit :joy:

Remember these?

(G. Andrew Duthie) #3

NEVER!!!

I’ve done a lot of bad things…but I’ve never purchased turkey “bacon”.

(eat more) #4

one of the trainers at my gym was eating those last week…he looked miserable lol

(eat more) #5

and didn’t salt your food?

(Bacon for the Win) #6

Gaahhhh…I used to eat these by the sleeve. After all they are low-fat…

@mikki @devhammer
My husband (not keto) recently purchased some turkey bacon on a solo trip he made to Costco. He ate it once and said he wasn’t interested in the rest of it. I told my daughter she could feed it to her dog if she wanted as I would otherwise just be throwing it out - he wouldn’t even eat it and he eats anything you offer him usually! Dogs DO know its not real bacon!

(eat more) #8

smart dog :dog: lol

(Jennifer) #9

Last couple times I made bacon, I did not use a paper towel on the plate to soak up the grease. I just let the goodness congeal on the bacon/plate. Yum…

Yep, that was me. Until I went keto, I can’t remember the last time I bought salt. Buying the Salt Lite was the first step I took. Now I have Hawaiian pink salt as well as Fleur de Sel.

And then I licked the plate…

Who, as a kid, had these convenient little packages for breakfast with the approval of your parents? And who can say they only ate 1 serving (which is one)? I’d eat both of them. No wonder we were zombies in school by mid morning!

Oh, but look! Low fat and whole grains! So now they are healthier for you!

Who didn’t love the chocolate fudge?! Part of a healthy start to your day!
And lets end it with this recent article from February of this year:

(Sheri Knauer) #13

I still see people picking out the innards of their rolls at restaurants and only eating the crust.

(Jessica) #14

I admit it: I used tomato paste for my sandwiches instead of butter, because it was low fat. No butter. how sad.

Do you remember 0.1% fat yogurt? No matter how much ground vanilla or cinnamon you threw in there, it still tasted like nothing.

Or dried fruit, because it’s a “healthy snack”. Who decided that dried fruit is healthy (and acceptable as a treat?).
This kept the wheel spinning on and on and worsened my wrong eating patterns.

Another one: low fat sausage! Unreasonably expensive and full of crap. They sticked to the pan, so you had to cook them in water. The heated thing only tasted like the Ketchup you needed to have with it.

(Dustin Cade) #15

those white cheddar rice cakes were good… at least the flavoring was good haha

Poptart pizza? I used to keep poptarts and Lance cheese crackers in my desk at work… I hope we see something like Hot pockets come out with a fathead pizza or meatball, bacon and cheese, it will be cool to see keto products in stores, seeing a saturation in the market and a reduction in the price of keto friendly convenience items will be much appreciated…

(Michelle) #16

I remember all of this!!!

And Snackwells cookies, Fiber One bars. All these “treats” that I thought were healthy alternatives when I was trying to lose weight. ugh…

(eat more) #17

ugh! i had a fiberone bar in the last 12 months (pre keto) and ooooommmmmggggg the cramping…misery!
thank god costco has an amazing return policy

(Michelle) #18

Right?? I called them fart bars cause they would give me so much gas. yikes.

(eat more) #19

the only other thing i remember being as bad…actually worse (it was years ago and i still remember it) was some protein powder from whole foods that was recommended because it was low GI…grabbed a shake before work…within like 20min i looked 12 months preggers, holding in farts (i had clients LOL), and in a LOT of discomfort…got home and threw that expensive ish right in the garbage! (i couldn’t give it away and knowingly subject someone else to that experience LOL)

(Michelle) #20

Yes!! I remember the protein shake days. After all, you HAD to have a shake after the workout, or you wouldn’t see any benefit from the working out! Ugh… tons of money on sugar laden protein powders, with fruit!!! I was sure “doing a body good”. UGH UGH UGH. Sugar definitely gave me gas. Keto does not!!! :heart_exclamation:

So glad my eyes are open now.
