Rejoined the gym in my new town

(Denise) #1

…as I really got off track with my exercise routine when I moved. My insurance covers my membership, but I was blown away when I saw this 7-acre “city” they call a gym!! Wow, I feel like a total spoiled brat to get to go there!

Anyway, I wanted to talk some about pain as I’ve only worked out with my resistance bands twice since June 20. I’ve stuck with my Keto, never missed a beat with that  Can’t afford it with T2, but I think my soreness, pain is “lack of exercise” so I joined the gym. I will need to be careful, doing mostly stretches and the pool for awhile.

I get a neat trainer free for an hour and she will help me with a plan which I’ll take advantage of that hour for sure  I fell in love with the place, and so, many seniors there, just as many seniors as younger but it was 11:00 when I went up there

I hope to reverse my bone deterioration which I’m sure is much of my aches and pains. I’ve been doing collagen for well over a year, maybe 2 by now, and boron (one of my B vitamins). I think I better forget the collagen as it hasn’t improved anything like my hair, nails etc. Not as far as I can tell. I felt it would if I just stuck with it.

Anyway, this gym is crazy-full of amenities, I can even swim in the Saltwater pool, then walk outside to lawn-chairs and sunbathe in between dips! Like I said, spoiled brat here!

Also, any input on the “rebuilding bone” or stories on how you did it so welcome. I have all of Mark’s info saved and will be sure and read through that again @marklifestyle. I have to be more serious about this whole muscle-building, bones, just everything. I have all the tools, I just have to use them, Denise

Sounds like a fabulous arrangement … perhaps your new hangout.

Bone density hinges on a number of factors, but prudently-calibrated (muscle) strength training is understood to be an important stimulant signaling both the tissues and brain to expend metabolic support for bone (re)generation.

In short, you’re in the right place to support improvements in bone health. Take advantage of your trainer’s insights into how to structure exercises that push your limits without going too far too fast. :vulcan_salute:

Wow, absolutely a new hangout!! I got there at 8:30, didn’t even do breakfast because I figured I would try a simple workout before I stopped my fasting time. I ended up doing a few machines, then I went in for the water aerobic class, then I went out and laid in the Sun for about 20 minutes  It was awesome!! Just got home at noon. I’m definitely hungry

I tried out several of the machines, and the pulley type, then did some dumbells. I did all upper body stuff, and the aerobics in the water really felt great. I get an hour with the trainer Friday at 11 so I’ll let her know what I want to work on, my goals etc. Thanks to you guys here, plus what I learned at my little gym in previous home, I know exactly what I want to work on and that good info on the bones. Thanks so much Joey

Denise! Hey hey, good to see your sweet face again! Glad you are settled and found such a great gym.
Stay in touch now!, ya hear?

Hi Robin good to see you too I’ll try to get here more often I spent two hours napping after a long busy morning and now I’m just kicked back after dinner I usually go to bed around 8:00 and read for at least an hour maybe I’ll see you tomorrow I plan on going to the gym in the morning as well once I get used to working out again then I should have a little more energy to get online and do some other things like my astronomy I love one thing that’s really hard for me to see is people working out I talked to a couple ladies about my age they’ve been working out for like 6 years or more and there’s still carrying so much excess weight it’s really heartbreaking but it’s hard to bring up keto because people don’t usually pay any attention but maybe eventually I’ll be able to speak up at the club and maybe somebody will get the message and be able to lose the weight like a lot of us have talk to you later hope you’re having a good day and a good evening Denise :+1::milky_way::hibiscus:

Denise, I recently joined you as a woman in my 70s.
Wow… sobering yet thrilling. I’m still here, still kicking, still loving life. And oh yeah, the oldest my family has seen for generations.
WE got this!

That’s awesome @robintemplin. My mom and grandmother both passed away before they were my age too so yes, we are really onto something and we didn’t have to go through all the money & surgeries Cher has done, LOL! Of course I did hear she does a super strict diet of some kind, didn’t say  and ours doesn’t have to be super strict to still have such a wide variety of improvements!!

What I wouldn’t GIVE for my health insurance to cover a gym membership! That’s awesome. It sounds like a wonderful place too. What a gift. So happy for you  :muscle::muscle:

Yeah, I call it another God-shot, which I’ve gotten so many lately I can’t help but wonder when the bad stuff is going to happen. I didn’t have to wonder long, I got my electric bill after this heat-wave we’ve had :scream:
