Refined walnut oil?

(Elli S) #1

Hi,
I have been getting off seed oils. I use only butter, olive oil and homemade shmaltz (chicken fat).
For mayonnaise, the only thing that seems to work is refined walnut oil. (the expeller-pressed is hard to find and expensive).
So it’s not a seed oil, but it is refined. What’s your opinion? How good is this for a health choice?
Thanks

I got some because it supposed be so good for you. I’ve had it for a while but not used it. It was super expensive

It was 3 times the price of canola oil, but less than good olive oil. I use a glass a week for mayonnaise only so it’s not that bad.

IMO good olive oil has too strong a flavor. A cheaper olive oil is less aromatic. Better for making Mayonnaise

I make mayo with either avocado oil or light-flavor olive oil.
