Reese's sugar free peanut butter cups- Can I? Dare I?

#1

Just seen a keto Instagramer waxing lyrical about Reese’s sugar-free peanut butter cups. Does anyone ever get these and recommend? I imagine they’ll be pricier in UK but I’m willing to buy them for absolute emergencies IF they are as keto friendly as she says.
I’m realistic- I imagine they may slow my loss down and may be full of junk but they would be for days like today when I need something sweet. Today I have curbed it with Pip & Nut almond butter but I would love something sweeter. Please don’t tell me off, hard-core keto followers who don’t get sweet cravings. I am fine 99% of the time but some days…:persevere::persevere::persevere:
Ps. An aside: I took a bottle of water to the cinema this week. It was rather depressing. Would love to know any cinema treats that you recommend.

I suggest you do some reading on the effects of the sweetener they use before buying any. Maltitol is positively evil stuff and I won’t buy anything that uses it.

You can make your own. Seriously, it’s not that hard. What is there, maybe 5 ingredients? And you can use the sweetener that works best for you, and use more of it or less of it, depending upon how sweet you need them to be. I kinda like the chocolate part of it a little sweeter and the peanut butter part of it less sweet and more salty. To each their own. But seriously, they’re not hard to make. YouTube is your friend!

Why not just eat peanut butter?

Thanks for that constructive advice. Will try. I love cooking. I have mastered the fat head pizza. Will now try these. 🖒

They usually have maltitol, which is pretty much sugar so no good.
These here are easy and taste amazing, I make a couple dozen at a time. Kids love them, non-keto people like them too and you can add some more fat or protein to make them more of a fat bomb or a workout day protein boost.

Edit: I make a couple changes to the recipe, I use the chocolate protein powder i have and that makes the flavor even better. I tried making from fresh coconut and it took forever and the texture and moisture wasn’t good so I just get unsweetened coconut flakes and use the same 150 grams.

You can dunk 90% chocolate in unsweetened PB in a pinch.

LOVE the link. Thank you so much. Will let you know how they go.

Now that sounds like a bloody good plan. Thank you!

I buy those sometimes, there awesome obviously but like all the commercial stuff that over does sugar alcohols, they have built in punishment, so go easy!

These are the best substitute out there. You can thank me later…

 Will do!

I love these! Made them not too long ago and they’re awesome!!

Thanks everyone! If I knew why peanut butter wasn’t enough, I wouldn’t be such a fatty! I have a DISGUSTINGLY sweet tooth. Keto is the cure for sure. I love how my sugar cravings have diminished. Today was a combination of hormones, tiredness and being mother to a feral 2 year old. I am usually ok. I may risk one or two sugar free treats once in a while but I respect why some of you would avoid them. My husband smokes cigars and drinks every day. I get upset and can’t understand why he would consume something that causes him so much harm…then I remember that I too have my own poison!
I lost 21lb last year and aiming for 42lb this year to be at a healthy target. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Avoid anything that says sugar free but contains maltitol/maltitol syrup. Might as well eat real sugar as far as insulin response.

Not to mention the disaster pants effect…

Can the peanut flour be substituted for anything else? The downside to some of these recipes is the cost of ingredients you need. I’ve already spent a fortune on several “keto” flours (almond, coconut…ect…) LOL

I think the peanut flour is what makes it taste so much like a Reese’s. You might want to find a different recipe, I’ve seen some that just use peanut butter.
