Recipe conversion help... vanilla whey protein powder from plain

I have a recipe for blueberry cream cheese coffee cake. It calls for vanilla whey protein powder. I don’t have vanilla, but I have plain unflavored.

I could do a seat-of-the-pants thing and guess at adding some vanilla and some sweetener.

I Googled pretty extensively but never found anything all that helpful.

Any thoughts on quantities of ingredients to give a decent approximation? Maybe one of you have been here before.?

Don’t think you can over vanilla. 2tsp-1Tbsp.

I’m sure I didn’t over-vanilla. I think I added maybe an extra teaspoon but that wasn’t nearly enough.

I wrote a note to Carolyn at AllDayIDreamAboutFood to see if she had any suggestions since it’s her recipe but she’s extremely busy, I don’t fault her for that.

But seriously, the texture of the cake was really, really good. That’s hard to do with an almond flour recipe as it usually comes out with a somewhat course structure. Honestly, it’s one of the best textures in a keto cake that I’ve had so I definitely want to work out the flavor profile on this one.

Was hoping not to just start throwing ingredients at it and think that I’ll just hit the magic one day.

Given enough frustration, I might just end up in culinary school! LOL!!

A friend husband makes his cookies from a box. They come with vanilla flavor but always he adds extra. Can’t over do vanilla. Cooking lessons are fun, and social. Don’t have time/money. Check out videos from the library. Especially Great Courses.

Standard disclaimer that whey protein can spike insulin hard so if you are T2D or IR keep that it mind.

Hmmm… maybe I should try a different protein powder. Maybe egg protein would be better. ? It’s mostly in there for a texture enhancer since there is no gluten.

Whey protein powder hasn’t been something I’ve used except on occasion. Maybe that’s best.
