Real hard $$$$ impact of LCHF/IF

nsv
medication

I started cutting carbs in October of 2016, Within 3 weeks I was able to stop all of my T2D meds and most of my BP meds. Now that 2017 is in the books, I pulled the data from my pharmacy to see the cost savings from 1 year taking far fewer prescription medications

That savings will pay for a lot of meat

P.S. 2018 will be cutting that roughly in half again

Great!!!

My brother was spending $300/month on insulin.

Now $0.00

Hi Chris,

We are always hearing that America spends so much money on healthcare … but I think the truth is that America spends a massive amount of money on bad diet care.

Keto for Life!

Best Regards,
Richard

That needs to be on billboards!!

:exploding_head:Yikes!! That cost is ridiculous. So happy for you that you got yourself out from underneath it. And you’re probably still ahead in spite of your grocery bill.

Chris, This is why sites like this are so important. The food and drug industry SURELY sees the writing on the wall already, and many “studies” will be published to scare the public away from eating this way, because profits make stock holders happy.
Thank you for posting your HUGE financial savings from adopting this way of eating, though your health savings is the greater winner.

Luckily, I have very good insurance through my employer and I was only responsible for a small portion of this bill

Since going ZC, my grocery bill is lower than ever in spite of the cost of meat. There is so much less waste. When I was eating lots of bread, fruits and veggies, it seemed like I ended up throwing half of what I bought in the trash, and I rarely go out to eat any more.

Yes, this is just one NSV, I have experienced scale victories and many other non-scale victories as well. The only thing that has been more expensive is re-buying my entire wardrobe multiple times in the last 15 months

I am determined to celebrate any and all NSV. Today pulled on a old skrit. Had to pull the drawstring a lot to fit me. My victory for today.

I can’t love this enough!!!

(Mike Glasbrener) #10

That’s almost $300/wk. Closer to $40/day. You can’t eat that much w/o being either a glutton or going to nice reasturants all the time!

(Pete Shearer) #11

Holy Fucking Shit! Great job, man!

(Charina) #12

Wow! Congratulations!

#13

That’s excellent! Cost-comparisons like this should be broadcast far & wide.

The pharmaceuticals industry is quite opposed to the idea of course - being the most profitable & largest industry in civilization (outpacing oil, gas, and petrochemicals combined).

Getting free from the Standard American Diet + Standard American Pharma is like slaying a two-headed monster. YOU WIN.

(Dawn Comber) #14

As @Darlene_Horsley said, I can’t love this enough. More excellent evidence for this WOE… Doing a happy dance for you.

(Bill Calhoun) #15

Dude! DUDE! Way to smash-it, Chris. Keep it rolling, buddy.

(Sean Chimmi) #16

Just amazing.

(Christopher Avery) #17

Congratulations! What an inspiration.

(Karen Parrott) #18

Amazing!! Thanks for posting. Buying lots of meat at better off at retirement physically and financially. Sweet!!!

(Michael ) #19

I thought i was spending more eating lchf, but perspective is everything. A dollar a day for ramen noodles and eventually more than a grand a month for drugs. Congrats

My experience was quite similar. Before Keto I was on over $1200 of prescription drugs a month between oral diabetes and insulin injections plus two for blood pressure and upper and lower GI problems. As in your case I have pretty good insurance so I didn’t have to pay nearly that much but someone was.
Today with keto and IF ,I’m happy to say I’m off all drugs and all my markers are normal. A1C went from 12.1 in July to 4.8 in November.
