Technically it’s an abbreviation yes? An acronym is when the abbreviation actually forms a word or name. Like NASA. I doubt people end verbally stating their opinion humbly by announcing “I’m ho” but I think acronym is a widely accepted word for things like IMO, IMHO, WTF, STFU. Now SAD and WOE are acronyms

Well, sort of. It’s a kind of abbreviation called an initialization.

Initialization: FBI

Acronym: NASA

Unfortunately, it is widely accepted to lump initializations in with acronyms, but mostly because people are not aware of the difference. I blame carbs.

Carbs and modern ed-ja-ma-cation as my grandmother called it.
I’ve actually never heard of initialization, though not surprising as I dropped out of school when I was 8 :-p

Lol I love that movie! Yeah pretty nifty, skipped like 10 years of boring school then when I needed a diploma equivalent when I was 32 I just went and got my GED. Only took about 3 days total because I didn’t need adult ed. So just a day of the pre test to see if I could take the test or adult ed, then an evening and morning of actual testing. Hated the essay part though… never wrote one before or since
