Raw Meat?!

I’ve noticed a lot of post, mostly those on ZC, where people are consuming raw meat. I have had steak tar tar before so I’m not foreign to the concept, however was looking for some insight to prepare at home. I realize raw = no cooking, but was wondering if there is any special considerations to take into account, either while purchasing or preparing?
